I was under the impression that there was a complete recruiting dead period over the holidays. I do not know what the specific dates were, but from the quote posted below, Kiffin has contacted some Florida recruits over the weekend. Anyone know what the dates were?

“They have a great staff,” Clark said of the Vols. “(Kiffin) talked to me about their need at wide receiver.”

You allowed one phone call per prospect during each week. That's all you can do, so Kiffin was within the rules. :hi:

Coaches can call each prospect 1 time per week. The prospect can call the coaches as much as they want...

Ok, but isn't a no no to contact a recruit by any means on a Sunday? I thouht I have seen that somewhere. The reason I ask is that Cum's daughter said something about him emailing recruits while in church.

The one call per week ARE the stricter rules for the dead period.

2009-2010 NCAA Football Recruiting Calendar

November 29-January 30: Contact Period. During this time, coaches are allowed to visit recruits off campus. Coaches can make only one visit per week to individual recruits. Also during this window, coaches must be aware of intermittent Quiet Periods and Dead Periods (during which no in-person contact is allowed) set for the following dates:

December 13: Quiet Period
December 14-17: Dead Period
December 18-19: Quiet Period
December 20: Quiet Period
December 21-January 1: Dead Period, though staff are allowed to have contact with recruits who have been admitted for mid-year enrollment.
January 2-3: Quiet Period
January 4-9: Quiet Period
January 10: Quiet Period
January 11-14: Dead Period, though staff are allowed to have contact with recruits who have been admitted for mid-year enrollment.
January 15-16: Quiet Period

What is the difference between a quiet period and a dead period?

You're right Matt. Thanks for single handedly getting us put on probation when the NCAA reads this thread.
