Overpaying like crazy. I'll give them credit, they have a plan for 2024 and everyone is aligned on their goal.

Don't know how it's gonna work out but they're going for it.

They are going to win a championship or they won't. And if they don't, Lane isn't going to stick around to hear the boosters complain about it.

If he notches another 10 win season, I'm sure he thinks a better job will open up. And like it or not, he will have the pedigree to get paid like a top 5 coach in the country. Any strategy that let's you sell the future for the present is perfect for Lane. Dude is always angling for the next job.
 
A little bit of harsh “Negavol” coming from me:
This team had the identity of their leader. And it’s why they didn’t win any big games.
The “leader” was too accessible and too much of a cool guy. Likable doesn’t equate to being a good leader. Joe’s a very likeable guy but not the vociferous, win at all cost alpha that this team needed.
Hooker and Joe seem really similar to me in that regard. I personally think the OL taking a step back and Joe just being an average QB instead of really good was more the problem. Those two issues compound each other.
