@Brillovol

got a funny story..

After I graduated, my Dad had a high profile client who got me an interview with head of TDOT..some lady with a fancy office upstairs in the state capitol.

I wore this business suit and a dress raincoat and parked pretty far away on a cold damp rainy day. Of course, it was quite a huck walking up the hill and when I got in the chilly Capitol building, I became a weather front and started sweating and condensating profusely. It was incredible and I was drenched and it wouldnt stop..lol

Anyways, during the meeting, we talked about what positions were available and due to a hiring freeze, only thing was road work..I was thinking my degree was really paying off 😂😂😂

Oh man, that’s rough. I’ve walked that walk many times, except to the Polk building. And it always seems like there’s a hiring freeze. Thankfully now now.

This was actually the third time I was offered a job at the state. Third times a charm I guess.

I was trying to figure out her name but apparently she wasnt the head honcho, commissioner or such, as I dont see a female chief around 1990, so I have been incorrect in my memory. She sure had a nice office though.

Could her name have been Carolyn Stonecipher?

Maybe, first name kinda rings a bell, I just cant remember as it was so long ago.Scottie Mayfield refered me but not sure how it all developed.
She was one of the first (maybe THE first) female engineers of the department way back then. She would’ve been in a lead role around that time as well. I know her and her family very well. Grew up and graduated with her nephew. Good family.

I just picked up eggs for my mom and was shocked they were 6 dollars for a dozen. wtf?
The government lie that the price of groceries went up 10% or whatever they made up was a huge insult to the public, and the fact that it wasn't called out for the most part by the "news" media was downright Soviet imo.

I'm not talking about politics. I'm taking about people's food bills increasing at least 50%. Maybe close to double that if they didn't change their buying habiits (lower their standard of living). Meanwhile all I heard the last two days from the same "news" sources was that x and y "are going to (get this) raise prices." It's disturbing. Yeah, eggs roughly doubled in price. Beef doubled. I've been paying double for "inexpensive" things like oatmeal and pasta. Bracketing politics per se as a topic -- which I'm trying to do -- it seems like false reporting on the regular (by commission and by omission) is a disaster for all people. Credibility is shot. That's not good.

Egg laying hens are dying from the bird flu. Hence the spike in the price of eggs, grocery store manager told my mother the price of a dozen of eggs will top out at $10 a soon ..

Someone posted this earlier in a different context. I made a copy for future use with respect to South Carolina football, but I'll just toss it out now. 😄
