Haven't caught up on the thread yet but, one thing I've noticed more than anything about this team is how much COACHING UP Rocker, Rumph, and Sherrer have been able to accomplish with our DL, LB's, and, specifically, our pass rush.
We're getting consistent pressure with guys who, for the most part, aren't highly rated (with the exception of a few, obviously) but...damn...regardless of their contribution on the recruiting side, those coaches are the bright spots on the field.
We were able to get away with having guys on staff like that during our heyday--guys like Dan Brooks and Chief weren't exactly known for their recruiting prowess...but their guys performed at a high level year-in-year-out.
My point is, every staff has guys who aren't great on the recruiting trail but EXCELL on the field.
I'll ride with guys like that, so long as they keep coaching at that level and land a few stars here and there.
@Atlanta VOL, agree or am I off?
Same with WRs. Want to feel better about it, but man JJ and MC are pretty much everything for us rn and we are not getting it done on the trail. Not just a concern for 2020, but the entire future. We need to stock the heck up with WRs and pass rushers. Not sure....sports-reference only has 'em getting on the stat sheet in 5 games. Bennett has doubled him in tackles and is equal with sacks.
We have a big dip from DT with sacks. He has 7 and then our next closest guy has 2 (Bituli and a few others). But better DL play should help offset that a bit next season. Still if I had to say which one of the 3 leave will be the most missed, I think I'd pick DT.
Not that Bituli and Warrior aren't great...but I feel like we got some young talent on campus, or coming on campus that can help replace their production. We simply don't have anyone that has shown elite pass pressure to help replace DT's production, and not got any big time recruits at that position yet either.
I think JG or Shrout would be the most likely to leave. Maurer will be a stud in time. I think it will be Bailey and Maurer next year competing. Chaney loves what Maurer brings with RPO’s and running ability. He just needs to time to get bigger and grow in the offense. With the VQ guys saying that JG might not leave, then you add Hill to this list, then UT could survive if Maurer and Shrout leave in the spring. I think Bailey is too good to redshirt.
Almost 19%. You can vote more than once.......more steam!!!FANVOTE: Who should win the Biletnikoff Award in 2019? « Biletnikoff Award
Jennings at 13.8%, trailing only Isaiah Hodgins of Oregon St at 34.51%
You owe JJ

Let me rephrase as I think it is getting taken out of context. I think we will see some coaching changes..probably pretty minor.
In my opinion TM has been the biggest bust of all of them on the recruiting trail....but he may stick around by virtue of how he got here.....
I've never understood this notion. If such a player was so important, why not just go back to fullbacks? Even The League is seeing the value in guys that can run around and past defenders, rather than just plowing into them 50 times a game, while rotating fresh legs. Not saying those guys can't still be really good, just that they aren't the necessity they once were, same as fullbacks. We just need that bruising work horse back
Wow.... maybe the Knoxville media needs to learn that always putting the program down and gleefully reporting things that are harmful to the players and team does not make you the one deserving the scoops.Hyams whining about Cole Cubelic getting the practice story on Trey Smith and how many practices he’s had. He actually said “I guess if I want info on Tennessee I’ll call a National writer cause they won’t give us that info”![]()
