Bradon Johnson, Josh Palmer, Jarrett Guarantano, Tim Jordan, Ty Chandler could be you're offensive leaders as Seniors.

Defensive guys Theo Jackson, Matthew Butler, Henry T, Deandre Johnson, Kivon Bennett, Alontae Taylor, Bryce Thompson, Shawn Shamburger
Assuming Trey Smith leaves?

I think it hinges on what the NFL Draft Advisory’s grade will be. It only takes ONE team to see him as the next Quentin Nelson to take a shot at him in the first round BUT the NFL is a cautious lot and I could just as easily see him as an UDFA without two consecutive healthy seasons to assuage teams caution. If he gets a grade of rounds 1-3, I think he takes the plunge, but this young man has gone his own way his whole time with us.

Yep. He's been healthy for more than a year, and this season has shown that his condition can be managed. If he's medically cleared by combine doctors, he'll probably shoot up the big board. If he grades high, he'll probably take the opportunity.

So Big 10 #2 gonna play SEC 5 or 6?

Talked to a Mizzou alum yesterday who's biggest concern right now is the surge of Nebraska and Les Miles at Kansas. He likes Odom and Dooley, but he's very concerned about recruiting right now. Historically, Mizzou recruits well when Nebraska is down. Adding Les Miles down the road to pick up a couple of recruits here and there isn't helping, Missouri doesn't have a huge recruiting pool and successfully stealing top guys from Arkansas, Iowa, Oklahoma, and Tennessee is hard for them.

Makes sense, I'm sure Kansas, Kansas State, Nebraska, Iowa being good/solid teams won't benefit Missouri. Not to mention Indiana & Iowa State suddenly winning consistently.

the committee doesn't care if you won your conf, unless it works against the favorite.

the only decision they have to make is....is the big 12 or pac 12 champ better than bama? if they say yes, put 'em in. if they don't....bama gets in.

Oregon losing hurt Utah. not only did they get a 2nd loss, that loss to Auburn doesn't look as good as it did either.

still, one more regular season weekend, and i'll be shocked if something screwy doesn't happen.,

i can tell you this....i bet Utah fans are gonna be screaming "war eagle" this weekend.

If both winout then it will be sad if Bama gets in over Utah. The committee will be effectively saying winning championships and conference play is second to the subjective "eye test".

Pruitt is about to tie the SEC record of that team.

Yeah, gotta look at the SEC records.

Botch went 2-6, 3-5, 5-3, 4-4, 0-8
Pruitt has gone 2-6, 5-3 and I expect next season he'll win at least 5 with a good shot at 6 or 7. Hell way he had the team playing at Bama this year, us having Florida & Bama here has me real excited.

You guys really need to watch this one to the very end. jmo.

They may edit the video but right now skip ahead to the 4 minute mark; that's where it starts.

it's really getting harder and harder not to like the guy. i listen to what he's saying and i don't ever get the notion that i'm being "put on"........

now, let's go beat the ish out of Vandy.

Agreed on your last point. I'm concerned about leadership next year. That's why I think JG coming back is a must. Losing Jennings, Callaway, Bituli, and likely Smith is going to really hurt. JG can be the guy to keep the team moving forward because he's been there, done that in all aspects of college football now.

And with Jennings it's not just the leadership loss. There's no one else on the team who has shown the ability to single-handedly affect the outcome of the game the way JJ can. Dude can damn near will his own ass into the end zone when the game is on the line. That's not something you can replace, it's just something you learn to win without, at least until a similar freak comes along someday.

SEC OFFENSIVE LINEMAN OF THE WEEK:
Trey Smith, OL, Tennessee

  • Had Tennessee's highest offensive line grade and totaled six knockdowns as the Vols totaled a season-best 526 yards of total offense, including 415 passing yards, at Missouri in a 24-20 win.
  • Smith was dominant against one of the nation's best defenses. Missouri entered the game allowing only 297.6 total yards (10th in the nation) and had the SEC's best pass defense, allowing only 165.9 yards through the air per game (sixth in the nation).
  • Smith enabled QB Jarrett Guarantano to become only the third Vol QB to pass for 415 yards as UT had three 100-yard receivers for the first time in school history.

And JG is SEC offensive player of the week.

Some random thoughts -

Beating Mizzou in Columbia at night for their last home game of the season (thus senior night) when both teams are 5-5 is a big win. Vandy last season was Pruitt's biggest game of his HC career. I think last night was a bigger game. He failed last year, but he succeeded big time this year.

Mizzou, overall, is a pretty well-coached team. Odom seems like a giant butt plug, especially after the way he spoke about UT this off season. But, if he were our coach, I'd probably like him. He's a football guy, he's not flashy, and his teams play hard. They seem to do "more with less" consistently, and that team deserves better support than a half-filled stadium on a weekly basis.

What happened to Mizzou's running game? Roundtree was a hoss last year, especially against UT, and they've been very solid in the past. Maybe Kelly Bryant being a mediocre passer made their team more predictable? Maybe their OL isn't that great? And then there's Dooley, too.

Losing Jennings next year will be like losing Dobbs, probably worse only because of JG playing well in big games last year (@ Auburn and against UK). We subconsciously know it's coming, but reality won't fully set in until next season gets rolling. Those kinds of players are invaluable on the field and in the locker room. Trey Smith could be that guy, but he needs to go get drafted in the 1st round and make some money. I'm sure there will be other players to step up, but it just won't be the same knowing what JJ went through and accomplished while at UT.

I agree on losing Jennings and possibly Trey. Always think "what will happen" and inevitably, others step up.
But sometimes, there is the Dobbs like piece on your team, who's talent is so intangible, that there's just not a plug and play replacement.

Thought about this the other day. Who leads this team next year?

I think Henry T could be the guy on defense. Hard to say on offense. I would say JG on offense, but as we know, he’s not an outspoken guy. Maybe he can grow into being more of a voice of leadership now that he knows his potential on the field.

well, i mean in some cases, the eye test is right.

w/out scoreboards telling you who's better, conversations like this simply boil down to "who do you think is better? Bama or Utah? which one of those two is one of the 4 best teams in the country?"

so if you're asking me, i think if Bama played Utah, Bama would be a low double digit favorte.....

the playoffs really started last weekend...weekend before for some others (PSU/MN/OSU/OR)....some won and advanced, others didn't....and it'll continue this weekend for Bama, OSU, Utah....and OU to a certain extent.

We need to beat all the scrub SEC teams next year like we did this year, and have to get at least one of the big 3. But man, we’re losing a lot. It’s not going to be easy.

Even tho he’s playing fine now, I think it’s time for JG to move on. If I were him I would. I think he’s maxed out here tbh

So we could potentially have Trey, Wanya, Brandon, and Darnell on the line again? Shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii we winning the East next year boys.
Don’t forget about Calbert. He’s an absolute beast and mauler.

He can play RT or RG next year.

Jerome Carvin has the size and his been playing better too.

No More Riley Locklear getting meaningful snaps PLEASE

So here's how I expect to see things shake out.

#1 College Football Playoff - SEC Champ goes (Georgia or LSU), LSU with 1 loss can also go...I doubt Alabama with 1 loss makes it, without Tua
#2 Citrus Bowl vs Big Ten - 1 loss Bama vs Minnesota/Wisconsin (whoever wins their game and then loses to Ohio State)
#3 Outback Bowl vs Big Ten - Georgia/Florida vs Penn State
#4 Gator Bowl vs ACC or Big Ten - Florida/Auburn from the SEC seems most likely and you still have Minnesota/Wisconsin/Michigan
#5 Music City Bowl vs ACC or Big Ten - Whoever doesn't get the Gator Bowl/Tennessee vs Minnesota/Wisconsin/Michigan or Louisville/Virginia/VA Tech/Wake Forest

Now if somehow 2 SEC teams go to the CFP then we've got a shot at the Gator Bowl, but the bowls are listed in order of "picking". So I expect at least 4 or 5 SEC teams picked before us: LSU, Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Auburn (in that order unless Bama/LSU get beat in upsets).

ACC could end up in this order (assuming Virginia wins against VA Tech
1. Clemson 13-0 (9-0)
2. Virginia 9-4 (6-3)
3. VA Tech 8-4 (5-3)
4. Louisville 8-4 (5-3)
5. Wake Forest 9-3 (5-3)
6. Pittsburgh 8-4 (5-3)
7. Miami 7-5 (5-3)

So most likely going to the Music City or the Gator Bowl is Virginia Tech, Louisville or Wake Forest. Clemson will go to the CFP and Virginia would be heading to the Camping World Bowl.

So I'll make the prediction we draw the Music City Bowl and face either Virginia Tech/Louisville/Wake Forest from ACC or Wisconsin/Michigan/Iowa from the Big Ten
You’re forgetting the other NY6 Bowls.

Probably see 3 SEC teams get slotted into NY6 Bowl Games between the CFP & At Large bids.

Going to Vegas for a Bachelor/Bachelorette party. It's my first time going and I have no idea what to expect. We are going to a night club that we paid VIP for one night. My question to Volnation is what are some fun things to do while there....besides the casino's of course.

Freemont Street in Old Vegas. Neon Sign Museum

UT in a bowl means a lot of revenue for the respective bowl. If we beat Candy I don’t see how we don’t get the Outback or Gator bowl. Don’t really see us ending up in the Music City bowl.
Didnt the Music City bowl move up in the bowl rankings? I think the payout is higher now.

I think Henry T will be a vocal leader next year. Maybe Crouch. Maybe Morris can become one on offense. Bailey's a leader, but not as vocal as some. We'll have quiet, calm leadership, but we'll need guys to show more intensity.
Going to miss JJ, Bituli, Trey in this department bad. I think Henry T has it though. Hopefully Wanya and Palmer for the receivers. Maybe Solomon and Emerson and Gooden or Middleton can step up too.
