Yeah, I also think the RBs are "lazy" almost on some of those routes. I mean that first play against Georgia State, JG put a bit of heat on it...but Ty catches that like he should and he's probably got a big chunk of yards.

Gray will be better next season on those plays, he missed a lotta camp with injuries. I really don't get why Ty hasn't elevated, but who knows.

WRs look better this year and RBs look worse 🤔

If both winout then it will be sad if Bama gets in over Utah. The committee will be effectively saying winning championships and conference play is second to the subjective "eye test".
Or it could say that they have enough common sense to know the Puss 10 doesn't deserve anything...that whole league is garbage.

Man what a terrible take.

Saban with 1 loss, by 5 to LSU is a "botched season" but you want to hand Mullen a nod? He lost to LSU & Georgia, Auburn was the only top tier team Florida managed to beat. And Auburn isn't exactly elite since they lost to every top level team they faced except Oregon and will finish just 4-4 in the SEC.

No way you -can't- put Pruitt in the SEC COY debate, there will only be 4 teams with better records than 5-3 once the dust settles. LSU, Bama, Georgia, Florida. And UT will be the only SEC team to have faced at least 3 of the top 4 in the regular season.

1 for Bama only facing LSU
1 for Georgia only facing Florida
2 for LSU only facing Bama & Florida
2 for Florida only facing LSU & Georgia

UT will have faced Georgia, Florida, & Bama. We were picked 5th in the East and after we beat Vandy we'll finish 3rd in the East and 5th in the entire SEC at 5-3. Pruitt will for sure be getting votes.

Hank takes will always take out at least a couple hundred acres before they can be contained. The devastation is terrible.

i will say this, if you do expand the play off, then the most ipmartial way to do it is to ONLY allow conference champions in.

that way your keep the intergrity of the reguluar season and your conf title game.

it should mean something to in win the conf....

SEC, Big10, pac 12, big 12, ACC champs all get in. and then you take the 3 highest ranked conf champions from the group of 5, seed them based on whatever ranking you want to use (i'd advocate for the BCS formula), and go play.

you kill all the birds with one stone. the little guys get included so UCF or Boise or Memphis would get their shot. and you keep the integrity of the regular season/conf titles.

i'd go for that.....and sorry if you're #1 LSU and lose to UGA. you're out. Sorry #2 OSU if you lose to whoever...you're out.

bottom line, you can't have it both ways with this imo. you can't say this team deserves to be in because they won their conf (Utah), and then say but this team deserves to be in because they've looked the best all year (LSU/bama/OSU)....the criteria for paticipation is completely different for both teams, and is inherently not fair.....LSU gets in no matter what happens against UGA.....but Utah can win it's conf title game and get left out, rightfully so mind you..........
Too many conferences are pure crap on a cracker.

Let's not start complaining about not having a good enough bowl.
That was not intended to be a complaint and it appears I should have finished my early morning post by adding that I would much rather have the Gator Bowl against Michigan, so excuse the F out of me.

Bama has the best WR corps in CfB the last decade, the best QB prospect in maybe the last decade, the best overall roster in the country.......

They played one team on their level and were fanned at home. Please explain more to me the fantastic coaching job nick saban has done this year lol. Thank god they scheduled big bad Duke in non conf. Would hate for them to play 4 ranked teams.

well excuse the F out of me. That was not intended to be a complaint and it appears I should have finished my early morning post by adding that I would much rather have the Gator Bowl against Michigan, so excuse the hell out of me.

Think we're still looking at a 7 or 8 win football team next year. We lose a lot of leadership and production after this year. Don't think it will be until 2021 until we're really making hay out there. Should have Bailey starting at QB, along with three what should be quality recruiting classes stacked on top of one another.

agree.

but in the interest of subjectivity vs objectivity.......

and if you're not like me and the regular season and conf championships don't matter to you, then sure, have as many teams as you want lol....
I have zero respect for most of the rest of the conferences.

Yes. It would be great to be able to ease HB into the college game, rather than having to throw him into the fire. JG back would be yuge!
Listening to Guarantano's post game interview, I would say that's a guaranteed situation.

i can tell.

i dont' really either. there's a handful of g5 teams that are usually pretty good every year, and in a one off could give most any p5 conf team a handful.

and usually that's going to be 2-3 of the g5 conf champions....like a UCF, Memphis, Boise etc...you're rewarding the team that won the conf, not the conf itself.

but i digress....

to me, doing it the way i described, basically covers every stone, except for anyone that is steadfastly only going to consider the eye test rating, making it completely subjective.

this way, you're either in, or you're out. easy. simple. games matter. scoreboards matter. the way it should be...imo.

someone will.

like i said, if you go back and remember, the issue with the BCS was that teams 3 and 4 usually had an argument to be in the top 2....

how many times during hte BCS era did we clamour for a 4 team play off? every year.

that still doesn't rule out the then next big argument for teams 5 and 6, but you at least eliminate the committee and have an impartial system for determining the participants.

i'm against adding more to the playoff. the regular season is already losing some of it's luster, and if you expand it to 8 teams, the it really won't matter if you win your conf....as almost half the field would be non conf champions. so PSU/OSU means nothing as far as getting in. BAma/LSU means nothing as far as getting in...GA/LSU means nothing as far as getting in.

meh.

i meany really, winning that "big" game in the regular season to get in posiiton to win your conf...and you reward? gotta do it again, cause the other team gets in w/out having to win the conf...or division?

if we had an 8 team playoff in 98, Florida would have made it.

and i gotta tell you, you go undefeated, win your conf title, finish #1 headed to the bowl, and your reward is you have to play Florida again?

there should be a reward for winning your conf. that should still mean somehting. if you expand it to 8 games, it means a whole lot less and actually helps the at large teams that don't have to play in it, especially if you're a fringe top 8 team....and lose the title game....whereas if you're a top 3 seed, you can likely lose the title game and still get in....

there's a lot of holes in that.
I say cut out the conference championship game for the reason you stated. It is meaningless if AL gets in again with having to do that. And what is the use of Oklahoma and Baylor having to play again? Let them win the conference by all playing each other then go play someone else.

Or it could say that they have enough common sense to know the Puss 10 doesn't deserve anything...that whole league is garbage.
The sec doesn’t have any ground to stand on this year. GA state, San Jose state, unlv, app state, wku, etc all have wins in SEC country. Still the best probably but the gap is tiny.
