Zero depth at LB is a stretch...

Henry T, Bennett, Crouch, Harrison, Johnson, JJP all returning and we had a great LB class in 2020.
I’m talking inside. Crouch isn’t fast enough to cover against guys on BAMA, UF, etc. JJP? I’ll believe that when I see it. Right now it’s Henry T and a bunch of no names. I’m hoping Eason or French can come in and play. Think both can be really good. Just don’t know about their freshmen years

if the qb issue isn't an issue....we can win 9 or 10 games. we're gonna be good on the DL and while we'll certainly missi BItuli and Taylor at LB, there's some potential there to go along wiht HT. as for WR, aside from palmer it's an unproven group, but the celing is....high. palmer, gibbs, johnson, keyton etc....

im not worried about DB's. losing Warrior hurts, but safety is one position i think we're pretty good at.....we have options.

RB, should be fine. TE...question mark, but pope is solid. need a couple of the others to step up for the 2nd TE spot.

it's not a slam dunk by any means, but this roster isn't terrible.....and it's good in the most important spots...the line of scrimmage. and if you're good there, you have a place to start and something to work from.

need the qb to be good. not great. not all sec or all american...just be good.
Agree with you. Lines of scrimmage look great and I’m not worried about DB either. Pruitt will have that ready to go by game 4 at worst.

The QB/WR thing just seems like it isn’t going to go well. JG is bad and now doesn’t have two dogs to throw to. Gotta see if these WRs can beat different types of coverages. Hard to rely on freshmen being able to do that. I like Palmer but is this a situation similar to Jordan Bowden where he’s a good side player but can’t be THE dude.

Overall, Too many questions at key spots for me to think we’re gonna do much better than 8-4. I’d love to be wrong

well, let's see if there's anything to this year 2 with chaney deal....

it worked out for Crompton.....history repeating itself doesn't always have to be the bad stuff.

if the qb isn't a liability, we can make a little noise. if the qb is an issue...i don't see a whole lot changing last year to this year.....

pretty much simple as that.

the other thing i would poitn to is we're getting Gooden back and we had some questionsa bout LB last year outside of DT and Bituli, and Bituli's health was an issue. we wound up feeling pretty good on the whole about that group, and last off season the biggest question mark on that team was the DL....even before Gooden got hurt. with him out for ht eyear, some were in full fledged panic mode.

that unit turned out to be pretty good by the end too....one of the reasons we're feeling pretty good about it this year.

all that to say, not every question mark on the roster heading in to this season is going to stay that way, or wind up a negative for hte team.

the hardest thing to wrap my head around is how the whole shut down really affects everything from a develoment standpoint....that's a big deal imo. but everyone has to deal with that, so.............who knows.

if the qb doesn't suck...neither will we. :)

Whew!! Finally got caught up! Saw I was 13 pages behind, and then saw Simonton say Tennessee would make news this week...all I could think of was something bad happened, since it was Simonton saying that! Glad that’s not the case as of now.
Nope...The Last Dance started another MJ vs LeBron argument...

It is all ESPN and Covid-19s fault.

Alontae didn’t really start to play at a high level until the end of the year. He would need to take another step this year for us to have anything like the best cb duo in the conference. I think our DL could be as good as any in the conference though

Considering he came here as a WR I am beyond impressed with his progress.

Guess ya hate me then 😜
Oh the folks are fine. Grew up with a lot of them through sports, sunday school, etc. And a lot of fine Cedar Bluffers ended up at Farragut, I guess about half of us. Strangely, some Farragut middle schoolers ended up at Bearden too. Knoxville districts are so wacky. It was just always such a battle with you all at basketball, soccer, and baseball. I think Farragut was typically better at football though.

I mean, Bituli wasn't exactly fast or an elite coverage ILB. I get there is some unproven names, but "zero depth" is a stretch lots of experience under the belt. Henry T has played in 13 games, Crouch in 12, Bennett in 13, Johnson in 16, JJP in 7. We lack proven performers outside Henry on the inside though, but also have 3 in the 2020 class (including Whitehead if he sticks at ILB) that could play early and often.
