Lol

After the ratings fiasco yesterday, I started to use the Wayback Machine to track Bama commits' ratings over time (checking for bias). The first 2 I tracked down go from 90 to 100 and 94 to 98 respectively.

Another interesting thing I found: the 247 rankings history page isn't correct.

Take Antonio Alfano. The earliest archived version of his 247 profile with a rating shows a rating of 90, but the earliest rating listed in his official 247 rating history is 96. He eventually ended up with a rating of 100.

Shady sh*t like this is why I wear the tinfoil hat when it comes to player ratings.

Antonio Alfano, Bergen Catholic, Strong-Side Defensive End
vs
Antonio Alfano at Colonia Recruit Rank History

You have to follow the ranking, because the ratings themselves actually go up over time as they get closer to that signing class and hone in on things. Just like how they start with a handful of 5*s and finish with 32 or whatever. The #70 player might start as a 90, but by signing day the #70 player is a 96 or higher.

For instance, look at the rating of the #70 player for 2020 vs #70 player in 2022 class.

He was #70 in Fall '16, but he was class of '19, so that was years ahead, so ratings were lower than they would end up. Their formula must pull final ratings for each ranking.
