If I understand some posts I've read on this site, Pruitt (if fired) would receive his full
buyout whether or not he took another job at a good salary.
If this is true, he could take a high paying job with another institution and basically give
himself a couple of million dollar raise. Might be why he is acting like an ahole,.

He isn’t going to work anywhere else

It’s amazing how many people are in saving face/throw in the towel mode. We are an embarrassment. When the “best” thing for your football program is to have the games cancelled it’s beyond time for a change. There is no sense of pride. We are finally in the phase of accepting doormat status in the SEC and College Football.

Pruitt is about to be Joe Biden on the campaign trail. Call a lid on the season and hide him in the basement until Sept. 2021. Problem is, he ain't gonna win jack **** next season.

Here’s my take on that, you’re free to disagree:

Freeze is using Tennessee and it’s large fanbase to keep his name in circulation. Doesn’t mean he also wouldn’t really want the job if it became available - just that he knows he’s probably not going to get it.

He’s trying to get more money in the meantime from Liberty (mission accomplished) and to be able to say “nah, I’m not mad South Carolina didn’t call, I want Tennessee.”

I would like to see the direct quote from the 247 Mod again.

My prediction is he’ll do this for every job that comes up, because he’s getting calls from none of them, but obviously we’ll see.

This is Gruden and Gundy all over again.
That’s pretty big conspiracy and leap...or the more logical choice is he told SC no thanks because he thinks he can get UT.

The only thing I'm accepting is that I don't have the power to make decisions for the University of Tennessee. I don't run UT, and my endowment doesn't entitle me to fire coaches or tell Randy Boyd how to do his job. Blowouts to top 10 teams looking for a statement win to land a playoff spot aren't going to "prove" or change anything.

Games with non-playoff implications are likely to be cancelled as the conferences try to finish the season as safely as possible. Even bball is in jeopardy. Players and families have health and safety concerns. Now, you have a nice Thanksgiving.
Tired of college football, wish they would go ahead with the conference ships and move to the playoffs, get it over with.

Stay safe, buddy.

We’re almost through this damn thing.

Do you think that helps or hurts Pruitt in regards to his job?
We both know all too well what this means… If we do not play another game, Pruitt is safe until next year, recruiting will tank this year, and we will be in the same position that we were after Butch wanted out in 2016 and we made him come back in 2017. It will be another five year rebuild with Coach McGoogle instead of being able to possibly hire a proven winner right now. I cannot believe we keep making the same mistake over and over and over. It was clear when Dooley wanted out, it was clear when Butch wanted out, and it is clear now that Pruitt wants out.

Thanks you too and thanks for your info it is appreciated. Fans are sick and tired as I’m sure boosters and players are too. Hopefully UT is working on not being an embarrassment for the the future.

well, and there's not an opening at TN....but circumstances here certainly do create an environment to get your name mentioned.

i think it's relatively telling that he's not in consideration (by his own design or not) for the actual open job in the SEC.....

at this point....i don't know that i care one way or hte other on pruitt. keep him, then get him a staff that makes a difference....fire him, bring in a guy and staff that makes difference.

just really tired of the same old same old.....

and fans do need to chill...a little bit. we suck, again. viral social media temper tantrums aren't necessarily helping....though understandable....

the type of personalilty and football coach skill sets that's needed for this job at this point probably represent a very specific type of person and coach.....there's a lot to deal with, on and off the field.

This is seriously the most UT thing ever. Pruitt sucks and desperately needs to be fired, and normally he would be because he's gonna end the season on a historically bad note, but oh wait! There's a global pandemic that has resulted in multiple games being canceled this season. So now he gets to avoid two blowout losses that would seal his fate so that he can....come back next season and lose even more games!

Clown show. Absolute clown show.

Let me ask you if you think this is possible: could it legitimately be both?

I don’t think that South Carolina job is any good. I think it’s probably the toughest in the East.

So I certainly think Freeze does not prefer it to Tennessee. That’s true.

But he’d take that job if it were offered to him - and it’s pretty clear to me from the media guys that I trust that South Carolina was never going to go in that direction and never made the call to even gauge interest.

Vandy could have played us this weekend. We just have some in quarantine and aren’t confident we’d win. SEC probably proposed it and we jumped at the chance to postpone...

Just figured it out and I don’t buy this story at all.

The SEC needed the 12th open for mizzu vs Arkansas which meant the only way to get mizzu/vandy played was this weekend.

This clearly was done in an attempt to get all these games played and not some scheme created by fulmer

Why would he leave Liberty for SC anyways? You said it yourself....hardest job in the east, so no I don’t think he would take it, if offered.

Maybe that didn’t gauge interest becusse they knew he would turn it down. I wouldn’t kick those tires if I saw all these articles saying he wants UT.

Your last sentence is dead on - Freeze is a good coach, but the Knoxville microscope would quickly reveal some pretty bad things. UT knows that. My bet is it’s a non-starter with Freeze.

Pruitt isn't clean cut either. Hell even Butch got accused of beating up a kid and interfering with a rape investigation.

We've been chilling for 15 years. We all have thawed out.

Probably but I HIGHLY doubt UT was upset about it.

It’s pretty well established he is not happy at Liberty given the Falwell stuff and the new power structure there. They’re putting the clamps on him and what he thought he was signing up for isn’t what he’s got anymore.

And let’s be honest, it doesn’t matter how many games you win at the G5 level, all those schools are irrelevant.
