Completely agree with most of that. It was a bad fit, wouldn't have worked, just not a fit. Other than a Saban or Meyer, you just need a southerner in the SEC. I just think it would work better than Pruitt did, which isn't a high bar. I think you are severely underestimating the amount of people that truly believed Gruden was coming.

Fulmer was left with choosing which testicle to have kicked. This is what it is, but no one was coming here when he hired Pruitt
