It would take FU money to hire him whether you like him or not. He's reportedly turned down multiple SEC jobs already, including our SEC West sister school Auburn.

I struggle to think we’ll hire Kiffin or that Campbell or Fickell will take a job not in the Big 10. That’s what leads me to Napier

I wouldn't complain with any of those. You could add Chadwell or Herman to the list and I would still be good.

to be honest, this isnt new news.

the only people that have been rumored that arent current HCs are like Fisher and caldwell, bob, etc. and none of them have sounded like real possibilities. if we get a current HC it will most likely be someone looking to make a clear upgrade in job position, so look for someone out of conference

Everyone knows White is well respected and a great AD--- Finebum hates this and it's making him super nervous that we are about to pop with a top shelf AD and then a top shelf coach to come in and put our program back on the map... he's scared, hence the pushback and downplay.... if Finebum doesn't like it about UT, then you KNOW it's great!

Finebaum has clowned on UCF for so long about the fake NC deal that his only play is to act like it’s a Meh hire. Hard for him to walk back all the trash he talked about White.

I'm not paying FU money to a guy who's had 2 good years at LA Lafayette. He "apparently " turned down Auburn, but who knows what is true and whats not in that search. They said last minute freeze was in contact right before they hired the guy they got.

When you have the reputation for hires that White has, he knows full well which coaches to look for that can handle our current situation. So I think its going to be a really mature veteran coach with no ties to UT whatsoever. Just my 2 cents.

totally agree with all of this, but with Napier wanting all this "control", he'll either have to settle for less or he won't be here. White is not going to hand over that kind of power to a new non-power 5 coach the same time he is getting his new office set up...

Could you imagine Aunt Bev dropping a quote like that, much less actually "getting it" on a serious level? I love the business, investment-oriented mindset behind that statement. It isn't very common in academia.

Have been really impressed with Plowman so far. We still do need to pump the brakes until White hires a HC though.

I would love to know Finebaum's definition of "proven." If proven consists of
- Walking into a situation with a College Football Hall of Fame football coach and making him hate you
- Running off a basketball coach that ended up making the Final Four at South Carolina
- Replacing the aforementioned basketball coach with a coach that went 11-21 last year

Then I guess Currie is "proven."

Meanwhile, at UCF, White helped turn a
- 0 -12 football team into a 13 - 0 team in 2 years.
- 12-18 basketball program into a 24-9 team in 3 years.

And that is completing ignoring White's tenure at Buffalo where he hired Lance Leipold, Bobby Hurley, and Nate Oats.

Currie may be a good fundraiser, but he has still not made a football hire after becoming an AD in 2009. When Currie was hired, Kansas State fans rejoiced and mocked us. When White was hired, UCF fans told us we were lucky to have him.
