He’s too much of a risk for a guy that wants “complete control”.

We need to hire a current head coach that has had some success at the P5 level. If they don't, it is going to be a gigantic kick in the nuts once again. If Atlanta Vol is right...if Boyd has already said "this job isn't a tryout" and they hire someone like Napier or Chadwell, all of the goodwill built up over the last 2 hours will instantly stop and go the other direction.

All I’m wondering is if it’s been decided, not who(although I’d like to know, just know I’m not getting it). You make it sound like someone is already decided on, because I don’t see you making that call if it hasn’t been.

That also makes you wonder if White was preemptively in on the discussion with UT and agreed on the HC replacement before accepting. If he wasn’t, then not sure his previous hiring accolades would matter to us since he wouldn’t have made our HC decision.

You don't know what input White will have or if Lane would want someone else who he couldn't get to come to Ole mIss, but could get to come to UT with White's help... don't shut the door yet.

Control is the one thing that can't be solved with more money. In fact, control is the thing you trade money for.

And "turned down" has different connatations depending on who is telling the story. If control is the issue, Napier didn't turn them down as much as they were unwilling to cede that much control for his services.

I guess at the end of the day you're right. He believes his stock is high, but as yet he has had nobody willing to pay that price either.

It seems he has overvalued himself in the market.
