Yep mostly and along with the roster hit we will face from Covid/Pruitt. This upcoming season covid is going to allow is to have plenty of depth on the DL and that will go down significantly in the next 2-3 years
Not sure I buy that. Idk

My number was from 2018, seems that things are shifting fast. At any rate failure was caused by Texas not buying the defrost options for turbines, coal, and NG thinking they would never need them. States like Iowa experience similar weather every year and do fine with their utilities.
What the heck are "defrost options" and what do they have to do with this mess?

15 yard penalty and automatic first down would fix that issue
I'm not crazy about tacking on a penalty because then it becomes a judgement of "are they faking or are they really hurt" and I don't like anyone making that decision. Alternative if play has to stop because of an injured player that player has to set out the remainder of the current drive or a minimum number of plays whichever is longer. It will make the decision to fake an injury harder to call for if you know you are losing that player for 8ish plays and if they are really injured it gives plenty of time to diagnose/treat the injury without trying to rush them back into the game.

We've lost more players this offseason than we will on sanctions. The first year cannot be his best.
yeah, i would find that hard to believe as well.

plus factor in that we're already basically 'late' in this off season with the staff getting on board....short schedule to get ready for spring, plus evaluate the roster etc....

it's just a whole lot of 'new' for all involved, and i'd be hard pressed to believe that we'll get it together enough in one off season, the first off season, that it yields an 8+ win season.

way better chances of that happening as everyone becomes more familiar with the systems, and they get more players in, and developed, to execute....

plus there's still the unknowns with the sanctions yet to be determined, as you said.

if they go to a bowl this year, call it a big W....

can’t really do that imo. Might cause worse injuries

Only way to do it is give each team a defensive injury TO a half and once it’s used even if clearly a legit injury the next one cost the team a TO

So now instead of taking a 15 second break, they cart the faking players off the field and they get a 2 minute break?

I don't think that's the answer.

I don't know what the answer is. Cramps are real. Stingers that take you out of the game for two plays and then you are fine are real.

The NBA can't even solve flopping, which is 10x easier to spot than faking injuries.
The NBA can fix their flopping problem tomorrow. When a player flops just call a technical foul on him. Pretty soon players would foul out. Done

The power plants decided not to spend money to prepare for cold weather so they froze up. It's been predicted something like this could cripple them for years but they didn't want to invest in protecting against it. Shortsighted decisions imo.

The natural gas that provides like 40% of all their power literally froze in the pipes because the pipes arent insulated. One or more of their handful of nuclear reactors had to be switched off because the safety monitors froze and had no cold weather back ups. Countries like Sweden and Finland use wind power in artic conditions because their windmills have self contained de-icing units, Texas' did not. Texas didnt spend the money on any of that stuff just hoping it would never get cold and they could save some money. They lost that bet.

I'd probably say Alabama & Georgia are hard losses in my early predictions. Florida is right there, although we get them early in the season and they did lose Trask still it's the Gators and until we beat them it's really not a game I think we will win.

Can we beat Ole Miss, Missouri, and Kentucky? That'll be the real question.

I think we win at least 6, with the 4 OOC games and then South Carolina and Vanderbilt. Missouri though actually looked to get better as the season went on and they have one of their highest ranked recruiting classes in the last decade coming in still only 3 teams didn't hang 30+ on them (Vandy, Kentucky, & South Carolina).

I'd probably say 6-6 is my realistic prediction, I think we can win as many as 8 games. But really unsure until I see how we look in the O&W game (man I hope we have it this year!)

I can see this, and agree, with the exception that SC should be a W, as well as UK. JG isn't going to be here to throw them pic 6's. Those two, coupled with the 4 OOC and Vandy gets us to 7. Ole Miss or Missouri are the swing games for 8, and Ole Miss is at home (hopefully Neyland will be rocking by then).

Hindsight is 20/20. It's hard to plan for every event that happens every 120 years.
It's not hard to plan for it. It's been known it could happen. They just didn't want to invest in protecting against it. Business decisions with real human consequences.
