But it really didn’t tho. It’s not like JG got less accurate. He had a higher completion clip in 2020 than he did in 2019 and it was the same as 2018. Chaney just was dead set on forcing the ball downfield. If you go back and watch our route trees last year it’s way too vertical. This chart doesn’t really do it justice Bc it doesn’t have any context tied to the throws but you you can see where his struggles were and Chaney continued to ask him to things he just wasn’t good at. That’s what i don’t understand about last year. JG wasn’t bad throwing short and intermediate but that was the minority in our offense. It’s like every play we wanted 40 yards. It just made it so hard on our players... OL had to block longer, delayed JGs reads, tougher throws etc. i hated the way he left here Bc i thought he cashed it in the last two games but Tyson Helton gave us the blue print for how JG could be serviceable. Throw the ball short, get it out of his hands, limit his reads, and occasionally take 50/50 shots. It’s like Chaney thought he still had bray back there i guess.
So then exactly why do you think that CJH is taking him?
Swain declared Bailey a huge bust today. Said it was a major miss that he was a 5 star. Ben said he doesn't have ability and Swain said he isn't SEC level. He did say he could develop and get better, but right now he isn't SEC level.
And Milton is a good get. Please, the kid is one of the best in the state of Georgia history at QB. He already proved he looked better than the other QB’s last year as well. He doesn’t show up and just all of a sudden suckSwain declared Bailey a huge bust today. Said it was a major miss that he was a 5 star. Ben said he doesn't have ability and Swain said he isn't SEC level. He did say he could develop and get better, but right now he isn't SEC level.
Hopefully 3rd string.
Let me put something into perspective.
Last week most of VN was saying the Wade’s “suck” when they clearly don’t. This week, most of VN is trying to talk themselves into thinking Milton isn’t bad, when clearly he is. I’ve seen people post stats, systems and all this other stuff today.
4* recruits that haven’t proved a thing in college “suck” but a kid that has played/started for a Power Five school doesn’t when his stats say otherwise, and those go all the way back to HS.
I hope he proves me wrong and this gets bumped 100 times.
Borderine top 10 in terms of production sure but im taking about his actual Traits to play QB at a high level and he is lacking in those. The scheme that he has been in allow him to be that productive for example: the vast majority of their “shots downfield” are really just 1 on 1 fade balls and that’s because the structure of their formations force a single high coverage. He’s not driving the ball downfield on deep posts or outs things like that. But if you compare it to our offense under Chaney where he’s asking our QBs to throw 2 high or quarters beaters concepts over and over again those are much tougher throws. He isn’t elite but he’s borderline top 10 in the nation. You can criticize his arm all you want but he put up numbers and threw an accurate ball. He certainly would start over the guys in our room if we have to bring in Joe Milton.
Consider the source of the “chatter”. Buncha yentas posing as knowledgeable.Sorry if this is Jimmying a day later, but seems to be quite a bit of chatter he will transfer, especially on 247. Hope not. Think he has unfilled potential and fans (maybe coaches?) just need patience.
Or maybe he just isn't a fit...idk.
Plenty of top 100 type kids have a lot of work to do...and Bailey was ranked exactly #100. That might as well be the definition of such a kid...talented but plenty of work to do. Just look at Salter. He was ranked comfortably ahead of Bailey and has a ton of work to doein the midrange game. How was he rated so highly if he still needs to work on his mechanics??
