This is why I question the pick up of Milton. We are hurting for LB's and we take a 4th or 5th QB? And Milton? So Milton comes in and sucks like Hooker. We keep grabbing QB's off of portal, run the ones that didn't work off and wash rinse and repeat. lol

If Bailey hasn’t won the job then that’s on Bailey. I’d like to see him in a couple years. Thought he’d be farther along by now tho.

Tbf he has had all of 1 Fall camp, played significant minutes in, was it 3 games? And now a handful of Spring practices...with a whole different HC and system.

Just the weirdest of weird situations for HB iyam.

If THAT happens then I’ll agree. Didn’t want this pickup either. Would have gladly gone 3 DB’s and BAP’s. But the tea leaf book I checked out of the library, teases Salter and one other QB (at least) hitting the portal before Fall. So this makes more sense in that context.

Ok, but my point is that he said he wouldn’t start over the guys here which he almost certainly given what we’ve heard about the QB’s so far and what Gabriel has shown in Heupel’s system at UCF. You don’t turn down a proven talent like Gabriel until you KNOW you have your guy, period.

I thought Heupel was intent on making the system adapt to the strengths of the players. I would think any decent qb coach could take HB and make an absolute killer out of him.

It's all on a spectrum though.

An offensive coach fully flexible to just any QB sounds like they basically have no system. Which can be ok at times, but it resets the offense with every new qb, causing issues every time the previous guy leaves.

Jmo but Hype seems to be much more of a system guy, which then tends to create a plug-and-play fluidity year after year once installed and you can get your own guys. Similar to how coaches like Riley or Freeze (and Hype) just seamlessly bring in new QBs and keep chuggging along.

Now, it doesn't mean he's completely inflexible...but he is DEFINITELY looking for certain base traits.

I think he is searching for a guy like Milton that shows he can run the offense.... if he doesn’t then he will mold the offense to fit whichever QBs he picks just like he did with Gabriel.

I think at the very least CJH wanted a QB of his choosing.

All of the other QBs on campus were Pruitt’s.

Possibly, what if he just wants a QB with a bigger body type to take the punishment of SEC play? He's 6'5" 243lbs. Hooker is 6'4" 220lbs.

I get your point. Not sure I agree with “others” points regarding our current QB roster. Gabriel knows how to run the offense but is not an elite running threat. I’m sure he keeps them honest. But being this dynamic runner does not appear to be a mandate...

Bailey seems like a bust since he was borderline 5 star yet still needs to overhaul his mechanics in year 2.

Agreed, his offense does seem gimmicky to me too. I guess we'll see how he does at coastal the next few years.
