If my grandaddy had been a big Clint fan...then Clint would have been my favorite. I just like to say that in their different ways, they are both the epitome of Western movies.I haven't seen nowhere near as many Duke movies as Clint movies. Love the Duke, but Clint is just...well...Clint.
You mentioning your granddaddy...I'll never forget, I was 11 years old, and my granny asked me if i wanted to watch a movie she had recorded on vhs. 10 hours later we finished Lonesome Dove, just me and her. One of my favorite memories from my childhood. Ive watched it at least 50 times since.
Hackman was awesome in Unforgiven...perfect performance.
Iove The Quick and the Dead, but like Silverado it is too campy to be one of my favorites, but yeah Hackman killed that one too.Yeah, that one stands out the most. He’s also great in The Quick & the Dead.
A few new westerns I have on my to watch list are Oh Henry & The Power of the Dog hear both are great.
There Will be Blood isn’t really a western, but definitely worth watching if not seen. Daniel Day Lewis is just amazing.
Unforgiven was so..heavy..to me. It brought out a lot more emotion in me than Josey Wales...and the supporting characters were way more powerful. That's a tough one, but its probably my favorite, too. But, how the hell can we say that, whenever the man made Josey Wales. A tough one, indeed...not to mention all the other classics.

That scene in Unforgiven where he went from being seemingly friendly and affable to dead eyed killer so quickly while beating English Bob to a pulp was jarring.
The Harder they Fall was entertaining. You catch that one on Netflix?Yeah, that one stands out the most. He’s also great in The Quick & the Dead.

I need to watch it again..It didn't hit deep with me for some reason when I saw it originally. It wasn't bad, I didn't think that at all, but I didn't get the feeling of it being a "classic"...but I think I will watch it again, I may feel differently now.Agree. The remake for 3:10 to Yuma was great.
