I also hope Rucker and Charles will take big steps forward in secondaryWhich year two guys you most intrigued by?
I'd like to see if Deshawn Rucker steps up. Door is wide open. Has a lot of natural ability. Not sure what held him back last year? IIRC he played in a few games and then disappeared. Mightve just been the plan to redshirt him. Also IIRC he looked terrible in the bowl game and was taken off the field - but honestly the entire defense looked bad that day.
Not sure how he is doing, but I do know P5 coaches who recruited him heavily. They believe the Vols have a winner in Jackson. He was one of their top QB prospects and saw great potential in him. Passing game needs development, but he is very intelligent and athletic. They were very disappointed in losing out on Jackson. For those who may know or have heard...any kind of info on Tayven Jackson? I know during spring, sounded like he works hard, progressed a bit; but, has a ways to go.
Has he put on good weight, gotten any bigger; how's he looking physically? Any other nugz anybody has?
I have never felt so miserable walking out of any stadium as I felt that night. I can still hear those back to back thumps when Bama blocked our FG and it went far enough downfield that they were able to hit the game winner. I was physically ill.Hearing Greg Ansley’s name still haunts me …. The 9-6 Alabama loss in 1990…. Fourth down near the goal line and he tried to jump over the top from four yards out…. Worse game that I have ever sat through in my life.
Yep…. We had Harper, Morgan, Pickens…. Alabama was mediocre and we could only muster 6 points…. No game has ever replaced the feeling of that day.I have never felt so miserable walking out of any stadium as I felt that night. As far as second year transfers.... put me down for William Mohan. Word was he's an athletic freak just raw. Interested to see what a year of development, and essentially two years in college, does for him. Like the secondary, the door is wide open at LB.
I was about to start a dog farting thread. Thanks for the reminder. This the Football Talk thread in the Recruiting Forum. Talking about two football coaches in the SEC is football talk. This thread also serves as a thread for regular posters in the Recruiting Forum to stay in contact and discuss various subjects.
Player threads are for discussing individual players, but this thread can be used for anything football related including players and coaches. This is the catch all thread for Recruiting Forum, many have been here for a long time and welcome newcomers.
PS - This thread serves as a catch all to prevent multiple threads from cluttering the forum. Every idle thought does not require a new thread.
Can we pin this post as a required reading when entering this forum as a newbie before being allowed to post and especially start a thread???This the Football Talk thread in the Recruiting Forum. I really hope he does well and helps the team but I can’t help pulling for Nico. He has recruited is butt of trying to make us a contender. Not sure how he is doing, but I do know P5 coaches who recruited him heavily. They believe the Vols have a winner in Jackson. I have cried myself to sleep many a night thinking about it…. People worry about the dumbest things.
Somebody didn't get much sleep.Heupel walked into an extremely volatile and sensitive environment that still hasn't completely stabilized.
However, he was also handed Hendon Hooker, and 5 NFL Draft picks to start with.
Arkansas was winless in the SEC for over 2 years. Not one SEC game in 24 months. Vanderbilt has managed to avoid that...
They had an average recruiting class ranking of #37 from 2017- to when.Pittman took over.
Tennessee had an average recruiting ranking of #16 in the easier division.
Both programs had busts and players leave their programs.
So YES. Pittman absolutely had a worse situation. And that doesn't diminish the outstanding job that Heupel ia doing.
Do any of y'all ever get tired of the petty arguing and simple minded scope of only seeing UT football in the scheme of college athletics? I mean Tennessee has Rivals...that have their own circumstances to deal with...that effect the conference.
It's not called the South Eastern Tennessee Vols Conference....
I mean, damn...Pittman walked into probably the worst situation since the formation of the SEC. But because were Vol fans...hey nobody can have greater problems than us!!
As a matter of fact, no one else has problems at all!
Yeah he's still got the fastest start in sprinting but losing it in the last half. I think missing on the Olympics really set him back on a training perspective. They just showed the finals on tv. We swept the medals but Coleman came in 6th.
