Yeah I'm not expecting a national championship or anything. But I'm not setting the bar way low based on last year's embarrassment of a coaching job.

To be honest I have no bar. I'm just looking for us to be mean and rough some teams up. Hope we can close out some wins along the way.

Pruitt says Trey Smith will be back and ready for fall camp.

Fantastic news and very happy to be wrong on this one. Very happy for Trey that the issue apparently wasn’t reoccurring.

Pick them Vols over 5.5, folks.

I think this is spot on. Based on what we saw on the field, not potential.

Now, JP has come in and changed some positions, changed weight, changed attitudes, etc.

Let’s see if it translates to wins on the field.

He has the chance to change the narrative but for me what is stated above is spot on until we step on the field.

He said it was the toughest rebuild he's ever seen. How you qualified the statement is perfectly reasonable. How he stated it was pure hyperbole. His was a hot take meant to get a reaction. It worked and that's fine. But when he starts saying things like toughest rebuilds ever, IMO the reader should be skeptical of the rest of the point he's trying to make as it will definitely be skewed to support the absurd hyperbolic statement.

what boggles the mind is how we went from being an 8-9 win team competing for, wait. Supposed to be competing for East Title - to devoid of talent in 1 year.

How, in all that is holy did Butch last THIS long?

As far as expectations. I think the fact that we've got grad transfers coming in at key positions. as well as JUCO tells me about all i need to know.

Just best to sit back, and enjoy the season. Pruitt is new as HBC, yes he is gruff. But, i think we can all agree he can coach. All the haters can hate, its easy to do. Phillip is our AD, and Pruitt the coach. We'll be fine. It will take a year or two.

Couple notes from Pruitt...

said trey smith will “be out there” to start fall camp. Was not specific when asked if cleared for contact.

Also said that he expects JJ Peterson to be there at the start of fall camp. Said absolutely

Same here. I'm expecting our guys to wear down some lesser teams in the second half and keep us in games against the better ones. The opposite of what Butch provided. We didn't hire wannabes this time. Most are wearing NC rings and our HC has multiple. They know what it takes.

Still looks like 7 wins plus a bowl to me. Will be happy with 6. But I don't see it as a bar they have to cross.

The biggest wild card this year is QB. Not sure we have a QB with the explosive playmaking ability Helton wants. Looks like we'll have the power running component, but we'll have to see about the downfield passing.
