I'm thinking they'll go with someone bigger like Gooden, Johnson, or Emerson along with Tuttle and Phillips. I wouldn't be surprised if Tuttle gets some looks at DE if one of those 3 can play NG either.

Any news on Garland? He is huge, think he will contribute at all along the Defensive line this year?
I don't think Emerson will be ready as a freshman and after that injury. Hope he is, but if he is not, I'm all for a redshirt year. Now Gooden, we will just have to wait and see. Johnson could be an OLB in the 3-4, unless he has put on more weight. Butler should be ready right now, body-wise. I really think Butler will have a great chance to sneak in and earn a starting spot. Maybe even be a 40+ tackles and 10 sack guy. Of course, I've been wrong many times before, but I think this kid has "it"
Yeah I think ideally we'd be able to take Emerson along slowly and maybe give him a RS. We may just not have that option, though. Also, FTR, I meant Alexis Johnson, not Deandre Johnson. He's listed at 314 now. I've got high hopes for Gooden, but yeah we probably need to see what he does once he gets on campus.
I don't see Butler putting up those kind of numbers. I'm not really sure any of our DL guys are in position to have a to sack year. We'll see what the coaches do at DE opposite Phillips. It may vary by opponent and we'll be using sub packages so much who knows how often we'll look exactly like our base 3-4 front anyway. I think they'll go with a bigger body there, but that's guesswork on my part.
