We don't see every play in the secondary. Osborne had the two picks, but we don't see the coverage on every play. I think I will continue to trust our coaching staff.

I don’t get the hate on baylen. He is physical and tackles well. People are giving him crap about the TD but he was in great position that was just the best throw of the night by their qb and that tight end is 6’6 and pretty good. He caught the game winner vs Missouri i think.

that was always funny to me bcuz they sited the story VQ(?) ran last year that JJ refused to take reps from JG, but completely ignored how they said everything between them got fixed in the spring
THAT JJ died with the rest of last season.

The problem with the Hail Mary drive was the clock management. We went temp the first couple plays even a for a first down. Then we let like 30 seconds run off for no reason and it seemed like we were just going to take it to half.

If we incomplete that Hail Mary then Pruitt/Helton gets killed for the clock management on that drive.

I have no problem trying a Hail Mary Bc quite honestly one of the best plays in our offense has been a jumpball this year.
I agree the clock management should have been much better. I think part of it was they were just checking to see if we could get a first down and in case we did not, there would be no time left for Kentucky. I also agree the Hail Mary was the right call given the situation.

Yep, the coaches have him on the field for a reason. They think he's better than Osborne.

6 seconds is not plenty of time for that. And, we scored a TD. To argue about it now is well, a lot of old Bruin who I hoped had matured. I will give you a pass on this one.

No one is arguing anything. Just discussing strategy in a civil way. I think we got lucky and darn glad we did. Sometimes you win in blackjack when you hit 12 and shouldn't have. It's ok.

Thanks for the pass 😎

Here is Pruitt chewing Helton out. Wish I knew what was being said 🤣

Those saying we mismanaged the clock at the end this says we did exactly what CJP wanted after that first play. We were going to be happy to run out the clock before the long run. Nothing wrong with being conservative there

We called a timeout to get the ball back on offense then ran a screen to the receiver.

Imo most two minute drives begin with a successful draw or screen pass. If the first play isn't successful many coaches let off the gas peddle and run out the clock. Pruitt wasn't happy with how close the first play was to being a pick 6. I think he clearly said pack in it and let's get to the half up 10-0 after that play. We then popped the run two plays later which gave the Hail Mary shot

Absolutely right. Throw down the field if you're going to try and put points on the board, and definitely dont throw down the LOS and risk a pick 6. Bad call by Helton, in a day of great calls.

It's people that can't get over game 1 first impression. He has been solid overall since. Anyone expecting a slot corner to shutdown a slot drag the entire game is unreasonable. Nobody can do it. Gaukden couldn't so don't expect Buchanon too. He isn't special there but he is more than solid and more times than not in position.

Dude we almost threw a pick 6 on first play because we threw sideways. It should have been a run or vertical pass. That is what Pruitt flipped about. As soon as he almost saw the pick 6 he said f this I'll take my 10-0 lead if that's the crap wwe are going to do.

People also don’t seem to understand that just because a wide receiver makes a catch on you that it doesn’t make you a bad corner in the scheme.

A catch? How about the wide open WR cause he wasn't in position and the other 5 or 6 catches against him. All DB's have catches against them but 28 wasn't even close to his WR on several occasion. There is a reason why they were picking on 28. His the weak link in the coverage.

I'm glad someone brought this up. If we had been playing fast and aggressive at the start of the possession, we may be farther down the field and no need for the Hail Mary... it worked out, but I am always for trying to take advantage of any scoring opportunity, especially with so much on the line. When we've run the clock out to half, or in this case, started to, it reminds me of Butch taking his foot off the gas and letting teams come back. Obviously, we need to be smart with play calling, but we should always be looking to score, no matter how much time is on the clock.
