I don’t get the hate on baylen. He is physical and tackles well. People are giving him crap about the TD but he was in great position that was just the best throw of the night by their qb and that tight end is 6’6 and pretty good. He caught the game winner vs Missouri i think.

He is good against the run, but he is clearly out of position several times a game, and it shows. He seems to have difficulty understanding the right amount of cushion on his WR depending on the down and distance. He has gotten burned many times this season by not even being close to his cover WR. I counted twice in the KY game where pre-snap he had his hands up asking what he needed to do or where he needed to be... this is another example of poor coaching from the previous staff. He is learning this year and will continue to get better under Fair's direction.

We called a timeout to get the ball back on offense then ran a screen to the receiver.

Yea, but that’s a conservative play call. He called time out to see what we could do on first and second down. If you gain positive yards, then you press on. If not, you let it run out.

I have no issue with the strategy, but he hadn’t quite made up his mind until you get a first down.

Pruitt has been telling guys this will be his worst season here. He’s going to go 7-5, one win away from intern Jones’ ceiling. We’re going to compete for championships with this coaching staff fellas. And it will not take long, especially when he’s recruiting top 5-7 classes like he will in his first full recruiting class

Imo most two minute drives begin with a successful draw or screen pass. If the first play isn't successful many coaches let off the gas peddle and run out the clock. Pruitt wasn't happy with how close the first play was to being a pick 6. I think he clearly said pack in it and let's get to the half up 10-0 after that play. We then popped the run two plays later which gave the Hail Mary shot
Accurate

Wes Rucker is turning into a really good beat writer.

Rucker: Jeremy Pruitt working a minor miracle at Tennessee

If Tennessee wins one or both of its final two games — next week at home against Missouri, and the following week at Vanderbilt — you could make an argument for Pruitt’s performance as the league’s best. Regardless, I know exactly what Pruitt inherited, and there’s no doubt in my mind that he and his staff have worked a borderline miracle. They’ve already won as many games as I thought they’d win this season, and their final two games are very winnable — very losable, but also very winnable.

At the very least, though, Tennessee fans can feel relief at Fulmer’s first hire being a good one. Pruitt coaches games without fear, and his team is starting to follow suit. For a first-time head coach, his ability to read the flow of a game and react accordingly has been impressive. And his track record as a recruiter speaks for itself. Even I can add two plus two. Hopefully you can, too.
Better days are coming for this program under this coach, and nothing that happens the next two weeks will change that. If you don’t see that, you’re not paying attention.

I don’t agree with the sentiment that 7-5 is a given. But I don’t think the record matters much. We’re on the right path regardless.

Agreed. I’m just feeling confident. But even at 6-6 regular season, that’s a big improvement from where we were week 1. I’m excited for the future under this staff

Me, too. But Mizzou is gonna give us all we can handle. And I'm not gonna write off Vandy completely either. We've had some really great games, but I don't think we're immune from putting out a stinker in one of these last two games.

But I've already seen enough this year to get hype for the future.

A two game improvement over last year with a roster totally unfit for this style of play on both sides of the ball.

Yeah, this staff has done a great job. Not perfect - and there’s some micro stuff to gripe about - but on the macro level they’ve been really good.

My thoughts exactly. Well said

I’m thinking he wanted a running attempt to see if we could pop off a cheap 10-15 yds and then go from there. If it’s stopped for a loss or minimal game, head into the half. If we got some yards, be a little aggressive.

Man, FSU ****ed up royally.

I know there was stuff behind the scenes with Jimbo but that’s quite the downgrade. That team has not gotten any better throughout the year. If anything they’ve regressed.

Jimbo is a damn good football coach and recruiter.

There are four active head coaches with national championship rings and they let one of them walk and replaced him with a snake oil salesman.

We could not stop the run to save our lives the last two years. If the previous administration was still here, KY would have gashed us for 300 yards rushing last night. Pruitts defense in year 1 shut them down and held them to less than 80 yards rushing.

Our defense also were gashed in the passing game the last two seasons. Pruitt has brought in 2 freshmen who have never played corner before, and has turned them into freshmen all sec quality players.

This is great coaching
