I'm glad someone brought this up. If we had been playing fast and aggressive at the start of the possession, we may be farther down the field and no need for the Hail Mary... it worked out, but I am always for trying to take advantage of any scoring opportunity, especially with so much on the line. When we've run the clock out to half, or in this case, started to, it reminds me of Butch taking his foot off the gas and letting teams come back. Obviously, we need to be smart with play calling, but we should always be looking to score, no matter how much time is on the clock.
I don't understand why so many people are having such a hard time with this sequence. We executed the last three plays of that drive about as well as they can be executed and we stole Kentucky's soul. It was essentially ball game at that point.

Someone posted this on VQ and I think it's worth sharing here. But if Pruitt wins the next two, he will have matched what Kirby did in his first season at GA. Kirby inherited a top 5 roster in the country and only won 7 games. His schedule was also easier than Pruitt's was this year. He didn't play a playoff contending WVU team that year, but North Carolina to open the season. He also didn't play Bama. His most impressive win was against Auburn that year, but he also nearly lost to Nicholls state and he lost to a horrible Vandy team at home, on homecoming.

Pruitt inherited a terrible roster and the talent that was on this roster had not been developed either with S&C or with actual football coaching, and he is going to take that roster to the same first year record as Kirby took GA if he wins out. Folks, that is impressive. I'm all in with Pruitt. I think we have the guy. If he signs the recruiting class it looks like he will sign, we ain't looking back, and those of you who laughed at me when I said we'd be competing in 2020, we'll see who is laughing when that season gets here.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe you're trying to say WGWTFA.

Def something to revisit at end of season. I'm all in but also still possible to lose two and momentum could slow. I'd be suprised if didn't at least split though.

Mizzou is ranked 118 in passing defense. They are T30 in rushing D. Total D they are ranked 73.

Charlotte was 14th in total D, Kentucky is 18th.

That lopsided statistic tells me that errybody isn't bothering to run on them because they suck so bad defending the pass and/or their pass rush is just awful.

And, everybody is slinging it to keep up with their offense.

And totally changed offensive and defensive scheme. Pretty impressive.

Can we score 31 on their D? How is their secondary? I know Dline is stout, but haven't watched much of them.

We just scored 24 against a better defense and in a game with fewer possessions because both teams were very run heavy. More pass attempts and the general pace of their offense will equal more possessions for both teams.

How has LSU had a tougher schedule?
They played the two toughest teams in the East, plus Bama and the rest of the West of course. I'm wondering if this specific ranking uses the opponents rank at the time of the matchup, because if so, Auburn and Miami were both top-10 when they played LSU.

*whispers*

Kirby really isn’t that good. Richt just left him with a loaded roster.

Kirby is probably in the upper tier but to win a national championship you have to be elite and I haven’t seen anything to suggest he’s in that conversation.

He was able to get the best out of a program that was stagnant under Richt and he deserves credit for it. But going forward we should not see the Georgia game as “unwinnable.”
