Yes basically the player informs his school he wants to transfer, them his name goes into a data base (basically like a free agent)...then schools can contact them.

In fairness, it's not Fields' fault that every time he's sent in his coaches will only let him run or that every defense knows what's going to happen whenever he's sent in.

Compliance gets who the coach will release him to and calls *does whatever the computing things do these days (I’m so old)* for the other ADs to get permission to contact. But nobody can contact Hurts until after the season and his semester is over.

There is a transfer portal for players to announce their intent to transfer. Teams cannot call players who have not signed up for portal.
Will McBride just submitted his name to portal this week. Now teams can contact him

Kirby not taking any responsibility for making such a low percentage call is completely weakass and lame. A fake punt on 4th and 11? Against Alabama no less?! Then to not own up to it??? Weak.


I wonder if Kirby is gonna learn from this. I’ve seen this all year, conservative play calling to end the first half, not utilizing timeouts. Conservative play calling the majority of the second half. Playing to protect lead instead of staying aggressive. The fake punt was as boneheaded of a call as the fake field goal at LSU. Has Fields ever been in on a punt? If he has I don’t remember it. Saban read that like a book.


It’s almost to the point of being hilarious. Had hoped Kirby would break the spell, but that fake punt call was as bad as Dan Quinn/Kyle Shanahan mismanaging the Super Bowl. The Choke Curse on our teams is real and it is TOXIC.

I just named you over a dozen NFL players that were main contributors to that team..
The sullins twins weren’t great but they also had two NFL OLmen up there with them.

UCLA was garbage and VT, Auburn, Ole miss, were all very winnable.

While I appreciate them all, the roster had a lot of issues. You are conveniently leaving out the liabilities to shape your narrative. Nick Reveiz played a ton at Lb and the corners were trash. DL had little to no depth. Janzen had tons of talent, but was a true freshman and made tons of mistakes.

They had to roll Crompton out to complete passes as the Sullins twins weighed about 260.

Not the worst roster ever but it’s not a ton better than what we have now.
