Not enough data yet. I don't have great faith in either at this point but if we don't get some portal guys, I think we well not likely improve much. When we were all bad as we were in some games, I think it is both problems.Okay. I guess I'm just confused by that answer. I thought the guys we had were talent deficient and that was the problem? If they are able to be coached up, then why didn't that happen this year? Is the problem coaching or talent?
There will be many quality transfers after the bowls. Many are waiting to finish season.Don't think we are too impressed with any defensive guys in the portal as of now. Not sure any of anyone in there is a MUST get at the moment. There will be more portal guys after bowl games and this window is open until January 18th. We have time to be patient.
If I had to give this year's defense a name, it would be Jarrett Guarantano. Not enough data yet. I did not realize that it didn’t leave a trace most of the time.Marks wouldn't necessarily show up. More than 50% of documented strangulations left no outward mark. It's one of the hardest things to prove and that's especially true when the victim doesn't die because secondary signs like those that appear when one dies from their oxygen being cut off don't show up. As unnerving as stating the following is, it's not difficult at all for the average male to strangle a female or child to death without much effort and no sign of a struggle - marks on either victim and perpetrator just aren't that common.

I don't know who this coach is or anything about this particular case but strangulation is incredibly common in domestic violence and it's one of the major indicators that things can and will escalate to a point of real danger if nothing is done -- beyond more run of the mill abuse. It's also nearly impossible to prove because it most often leaves no trace.
They are waiting for guys who will be playing in bowls. There will be a second wave after signing day. No need to rush, unless a sure thing. If the coaches aren't interested in defensive players in the portal then it likely means they aren't willing to use spots on the guys that are in the portal right now. Maybe the second window will be bring more of what the coaches are looking for? Or maybe they are excited about our incoming freshmen. After a 10-2 season where we still struggled on defense, I am content to let this play out and give the coaches some grace.
Prayers for the family brotherMy family could use some prayers for peace and comfort. My wife's grandmother is 96 and has been in a nursing home for several months now. They just verified today that she has been having a series of strokes and at least one more serious stroke. They have started her on Morphin, so not sure how much longer she has. This is my wife's last remaining grandparent and it is hitting her pretty hard.
If the current recruits are all we add, does anyone really believe our secondary takes a step forward next year? I'm just curious what the thought is? We spent almost the entire season talking about how talent deficient the secondary is, how Banks and Martinez were forced to work with what they had. That being the case, can we really expect significantly better if it's the same guys returning plus some freshmen?
I'm just curious on others' thoughts.
Bass (my IPhone almost corrected me to post ‘Badass’ for Bass). He does this every year leading up to ESD, just like he did for signing day back for before ESD. He will be chewing on fingernails until the ink is dry as we all will.Ok, but you called them idiots for telling you to calm down . You know what? It doesn't matter. Like you. I just want to win. I choose not to be frustrated or concerned yet. I can understand why you might be.
Fentrell Cypress. But I doubt we get him. If he wasn't already known to be some trouble, Denver Harris. But there are a couple more corner guys definitely worth kicking the tires on that would be an improvement on guys we currently have, IMO.I guess the better question would be who in the portal is a MUST get guy in the secondary? I don't think that guy is there currently. If we take someone, he must be a bona-fide day 1 starter.
Lost my granny when she was 89. Thought I was prepared because of her advanced age but wasn’t. My boss just couldn’t understand why I was still crying 2 weeks later. My aunt also taught at the school and was the same way. You know how blessed you are for having them so long, but that doesn’t change how it changes your world if you’re close. She lost her grandfather earlier this year at 96 as well. It can be difficult to see the blessing of that when you are in the hurt. She knows it, but losing her last two grandparents so close together is tough. Just trying to be supportive, because I know my last two grandparents are moving closer to their eternity as well. My PaPa is almost 93 and my Na is 90. We can't keep our family forever, and I would not want to. It doesn't make it any less painful when they are called home but it is a comfort to know that they will have their peace and be made new.
