My family could use some prayers for peace and comfort. My wife's grandmother is 96 and has been in a nursing home for several months now. They just verified today that she has been having a series of strokes and at least one more serious stroke. They have started her on Morphin, so not sure how much longer she has. This is my wife's last remaining grandparent and it is hitting her pretty hard.

Sending prayers Glitch

Praying for all of you🙏🏻

F) Heupel is focused on his offense and ignoring the defense.

No one wants to consider that. I love Coach Heupel. I love his offense. But offense cannot be our sole focus. We have to improve our defense. And it's like many of you are forgetting that while lamenting that defense this year, the constant excuse was "we just don't have the talent yet". There are some talented guys in the portal. Could there be other reasons we're not pursuing them? Absolutely. But why aren't we pursuing ANY of them? And I'm talking defense, not offense.

IMO option F isn't even realistic due to Heupel's player/coach internal driver to win.

I read through this several times trying to figure out if somehow I had posted using an alternate account.
My Mom passed in ‘19 after battling Alzheimer’s. Shortly thereafter my Dad, who was dealing with Parkinson’s, became pretty much non communicative up until his passing in the summer of ‘20.
I would wheel him around in his wheelchair right before the end and he was just a hollow shell - he had no discernible voice, and was often asleep, or just vacant.

But the last time I visited with him before he became bedbound at the end, I was wheeling him down the nursing home hallway and I leaned over and said,”I love you.”
And he grabbed my hand with a surprising grip, and looked at me with the most awareness I had seen in his eyes in a LONG time and said quite clearly “I love you too.”

the sudden acute awareness, responsiveness, alertness really caught me off guard. It was such a blessing though. It was the last thing I ever heard him say.

Your post made me tear up.
My Mom dwindled with Alzheimers.
The last time I saw her, I had this strange compulsion to read her some of our favorite children’s books that she read to me when I was little.
Green Eggs and Ham, Come Over to My House, and Are You My Mother?
At the end of the 3rd book, I bowed my head and told her that she was my Mother and I loved her very much. She squeezed my hand and said “I love you too, Joey.” She looked into my eyes and smiled. My Mother was there for just a little bit. 😊

It's so hard to predict these bowl games. Most teams want even resemble what they were in regular season. Opt outs and going pro and transfer portal.
Yep...and yet, watch and see what happens if we lose...especially if we lose "badly"...the national media is licking their chops at the chance to ridicule Tennessee and Heupel as gimmicky frauds. We could go out there with a completely different team from the one that played all year and it will not matter. No context will be given....just ridicule.

Our own traitorous local media, and especially the ever present cancerous LotM and negaHeupels will not shut up about it....EVER.

I dread it, and I hope to everything good and Orange in this crappy world that Heupel is able to pull a good game out of whatever team he is able to field in this Bowl game.

Clemson is a loaded team with nearly as much ranked talent as UGA, OSU and Bama....and they have finally found a real QB.

Only the idiots. Any reasonable person can see we're without our Heisman QB and Clemson finally moved on to their better QB.

Would be far more telling of the commentator than anything to do with Heupel.
How many "reasonable" folks do you think are out there...that people will actually listen to? I have zero faith in a reasonable narrative happening...absolute zero.

One thing to remember about the portal is that 90 percent of the guys who enter are there because they just aren't what they were evaluated as being going into their current school and can't get on the field. The other 5 percent have already done the legwork and know where they want to go. That doesn't mean that there aren't good players in the portal. It just means that if you want impact and not just bodies with a somewhat arbitrary star rating by their name, you have to be really selective. This staff is very tight with any info so who they are pursuing is going to be hard to figure. I think that there will be at least 2 more additions before the bowl and then it will get quiet until after.

Edit: Math is hard. There's another 5 percent that are borderline takes because of attitude, NIL expectations and talent. Those are the ones that are hard to evaluate. So far, the portal has yielded very few defensive guys who didn't already know their destination when they entered or guys who just aren't difference makers.

Our own media, this is the big one
These guys love drama and will turn on this staff in a minute
They are already seemingly upset with the amount of info they are given

I think that you are probably right about how it will be viewed and reported. However, outside of places like this board, it won't move the needle. Danny White won't be influenced in any way by a negative narrative, boosters are extremely happy with Heupel and recruits just don't care about who wins a bowl game. Heupel is in at Tennessee for the long haul and knows that criticism gets turned to praise with long term winning.

McGill... The only goal for all that is too get people like you riled up. Simplest solution, ignore it, don't read it. Then, it's like it didn't exist.... Works for me anyways. Besides, whatever is put out there that falls in this category is rarely an accurate depiction of reality.

There's been plenty of hit pieces put out on other programs too that never come to fruition.

Hell after Clemson lost that blow out bowl game to West Virginia you'd of thought it was all but certain Dabo was fine get fired and Clemson was never gonna be back.

And we haven't played the game yet...

Well, I am not sure the coaches agree with us about what they need. They may be happy with what they have and what is coming in. IDK. They may already know who they are going to bring in after the bowl games that is not in the portal yet. I still think it is too tricky to bring anyone in before ESD. My thing is with the portal the way it is, and players leaving teams all the time….there’s no reason to even worry about who you’ve got until the week before the first game because you don’t know who will be there anyway. It’s just a whole new world. Not sure I like it.

Just what I was thinking. Ya never know.

Good point.
