Less wins, less winning percentage, much less years in college, and lacks the substantial coaching tree which is really what makes Leach so impressive.

Leach was an offensive innovator. That was probably his greatest contribution to college football. Moreso than wins and losses as a head coach. That alone deserves recognition IMO.

I think you (all of us really) just have to have some chill on these transfers. These are second hand snippets of information at best. Heupel is no dummy and knows exactly where we need to get better but he's not going to take a transfer JUST because we need a DB. Has to be right fit, skill set, attitude, etc. Patience will be rewarded I bet

Have that tough convo with Tank and let him know Walker and Slaughter are penciled in as starters in the spring. We have to get faster and tackle better from the safety spots.

I know at this point in the secondary McDonald at STAR and Walker at Safety are the only two guys I think have earned their starts.

I could see Jaylen transferring out to play another season somewhere else. He's been solid, but at this point better talent can't be left sitting while he's on the field.

Could also move Tank to STAR and let him split time with T-Mac.

Makes sense. He is being mocked as a top 10 pick.

With that said, I now think Hyatt will opt out as well. With a great time at the combine, he could move up to the last teens in the 1st round.

Plus we’ve heard the VQ guys mention that most of the top talent already knew where they were going before they entered to the portal. The ones that didn’t may not be the best culture fit like LAVol alluded too.

During the season, I was assured it was the players, not the coaches. Now we're hearing it's not the players....


In all seriousness, putting my smartassery aside for a moment, I just want to see better defense. It doesn't even have to be spectacular. It just has to be significantly better than what we saw this year.

Seems to be a numbers thing. Losing zero CBs, but bringing in 3 in the new class. Losing 1 Safety but bringing in 3 in the new class.

I think they may actually want to wait until spring so they can put the current roster and incoming guys through camp before deciding who they can move on from...but that'll also mean we miss out on some quality portal guys that want to find a landing spot to be there in spring. I'll feel better if we land Carter about our LBs, but if we don't get him really would like to add someone with some talent/production to push Mitchell/Beasley in camp.
