We shall see. But they didn’t target corners last year or linebackers and it cost us big, if we had taken a starting corner and ILB last year, we are in the playoffs. We saw the drop off when Banks was out. I think Huepel is too trusting of his defensive coaches and their assessments. IMOI think you (all of us really) just have to have some chill on these transfers. These are second hand snippets of information at best. Heupel is no dummy and knows exactly where we need to get better but he's not going to take a transfer JUST because we need a DB. Has to be right fit, skill set, attitude, etc. Patience will be rewarded I bet
I think he'll play, just to get 34yds.

Seeing what these coaches have accomplished with the roster they took over, I trust whatever they decide to do.I mean it's fun to "what-if" last year's portal shopping...but we were coming off 7-6 and no one thought we'd be doing this season what we did. So some of those plug and play transfers just weren't interested in coming here.
Seems like we did pretty well with McCoy, Walker, and Mincey all 3 were big helps this season. Hopefully Turrentine can become a contributor next year. The rest of the guys we landed were PWOs and mostly depth guys. (Browder, Shuler, Hannah).
I'll be honest though, looking at the last 2 portal hauls I'm fine with trusting the coaches. They've hit far more than they've missed. In 2021 Mohan was the only guy that really didn't contribute or help us that we had on scholarship.
If I were to second guess our coaches on any one thing, it would be their tendency to TRUST their starters too much…specially at defensive back…particularly at safety. Walker was our best safety at the end of the season and I find it hard to believe he wasn’t ALL season.I mean it's fun to "what-if" last year's portal shopping...but we were coming off 7-6 and no one thought we'd be doing this season what we did.
