Recruiting Forum: Football Talk XI

My son is from his generation.

Disabled American Vet (United States Marine Corps).

Damn this generation and their feeling entitled!!!!!

Glad you said it. I refuse to talk to people who don't think before they speak/type. :hi:

Vets get boned in this country. It makes me angry! I actually did volunteer work at a vet house.

the people that I have run into from that generation in my business are very capable and industrious (some of which no doubt is due to their advantages in dealing with technology) - in fact, it is typically the members of an older guard that "that generation" outworks and outperforms that bemoan their presence

From my experience the future is in good hands

That is my feeling as well.

I don't know if this was already posted, but Athlon Sports rates CBJ at #37 of all #128 head coaches:

37. Butch Jones, Tennessee
Record at Tennessee: 5-7 (1 year)
Career Record: 55-34 (7 years)
Tennessee’s Program Rank: (No. 7 in the SEC, No. 16 nationally)

In his first year at Tennessee, Jones had a similar overall record to his predecessor (Derek Dooley), but the Volunteers appeared to take a step forward in 2013. Tennessee lost to Georgia by three points in overtime and fell to Vanderbilt 14-10 in late November. The signs of progress were small, but Jones is recruiting at a high level and has a track record of success. From 2007-09 at Central Michigan, Jones went 27-13 and won two MAC titles. At Cincinnati, Jones recorded a 23-14 mark and finished with a 10-4 mark in the Big East over the final two years. Jones is unproven in the SEC, but all signs point to progress on Rocky Top heading into 2014.

Although I don't expect us to have a huge 2nd year differnce under Butch because us being so young on the O-Line and D-line.

I could see us getting to 7 wins maybe 8 with a bowl win.

The jump from Butch Jones 2nd year at Cincinatti was huge.

2010 Cincinnati 4–8 2–5 7th
2011 Cincinnati 10–3 5–2 T–1st Confernce Champs

I think we have a legitimate shot to flip the record from last year and make it to a bowl. Cautious optimism.

Agreed as far as base level expectations. And if a few other teams go into a tailspin due to injuries and/or early losses, our final record could surprise folks.

I think we make a bowl this year regardless and will be disappointed if we don't (although I won't under any circumstances call for CBJs head).

Whats awesome isthe way these guys are leaving the program now.

Both Toney and Hill along with the program have handled this exceptionally and both still feel like they were part of putting us back in the right direction.

Its awesome when guys leave without bad feelings.

What a completely weird journey this thread has taken over the last 36 hours...

On a side note, I Googled weird and came up with this (I think it fits well for today):

My 2 cents with the QB situation is that Worley will be the starter but you will also see Dobbs quite a bit also. I think the Worley and Dobbs have matured the greatest both mentally and physically during this offseason....and it showed in the O/W game. As for Ferguson.....the physical tools are all definitely there but I just don't think he fully grasps the college game yet. I think they will try to RS Ferg this year.

This offense is going to look like a totally different monster this fall. These players have now had another full year to grasp this spread offense and I think it is going to take off especially with all the new weapons Jones and Co. have acquired.

I haven't been this excited for a season in a looooongggg time.

We kind of already redshirted Ferg this year.
