Jashon moving has always been a possibility... I don't think it was motivated by panic.

None of these decisions or discussions are panic related. Just discussions. I'm speaking more to the people saying our O line will be fine, it can't be worse. Jashon moving of course was a possibility but committing this early to that change speaks to need. We are young on D line too which was his initial spot.

Fall camp makes me laugh it's ok to be unrealistic and optimistic as hell about new players season etc but don't try to talk through where our issues will be or how severe. Now in the middle of the season after the actual poop is on the fan it'll be the opposite. Always the same. I need to get on the correct medication cycle. I try to walk myself through worst cases early so as the season unfolds you aren't left shocked. To each their own.

They announced it before it was official to help the hemorrhaging of customers to DishN. Even after the papers are signed, it will take them a while to decide how to offer it (which packages, etc...), so you won't be able to sign up for it for a while yet.

I'm not sure that's the case. I'm trying to remember what DeerPark said, but it was essentially that Disney/ESPN/SECN had a pretty specific criteria of how the network would be offered within the SEC footprint (and how it would be handled outside). Didn't sound like there was much room for hemming/hawing about service tiers, etc.

Maybe so. Everything I've read says there's a lot to be finalized externally and internally, but they're confident enough that they've announced it.

Love the news on Hendrix and Barnett. Having 275-pound DEs that can run is the stuff DCs' dreams/OCs' nightmares are made of. We're gonna have such an awesome and versatile defensive front in the next few years with these guys, KMac, Tuttle and the others. Can't wait to see how Coach Strip develops them.

We have quite a 2-deep this year and possibly next year, if these guys develop fast. Vereen and Maggitt followed by these two. No way we are bottom of the league in sacks again.

I'm cautiously optimistic that our defense may surprise folks this year.

Same here. I was more concerned about the DL than the QB at first. Now, it's the other way around. If we have bad OL and QB play it is going to be a long year. But it's still early and anything could happen before our first game.

I won't call for CBJ to be fired if he does not get the team to a bowl game this year. Next year I would. No bowl game this year and IMO recruiting takes a substantial nose dive. The local kids would still be bought in but outside the state of Tennessee, it would be very easy to negative recruit for ANY school going forward. Less than 7 wins(8 with a bowl game) in 2015 and IMO the staff is in deep trouble.

Agreed. If he wins less than 5 or even 5 I would not be a proponent for firing him. I think some mistook me saying I'd be off the wagon.
I think a majority would know/think we were in some troubled waters on Butch being our savior if only won 4. Obviously there could be a fluke scenario for a coach but i see most reasonable people saying 5 is their floor and 6 is their expectation.

Nope. All we need is 6 wins and a bowl game (hopefully that will be a win too), and this class will look very good on NSD. Remember, we have heard quotes over and over from recruits buying into Butch's vision for the program. His vision may include this year just getting to a bowl. None of us know. A sub .500 year with no bowl, and our class might take a hit.

So why did you say "Nope"? That's almost exactly what I said in my post. Need a bowl game this year. If not, recruiting will suffer. In 2015 we need a minimum of 8 wins WITH one being in a bowl.

Personally I don't think we have to worry. I'm confident now we are more talented than 6 teams we play this year (including Mizzou, Vandy and UK) and I'm pretty sure we will beat them. Just need to avoid an upset and pull one ourselves in the other 6 games. If we can be two overturned calls away from 7 wins with last year's team, I think we will be fine this year.

You and Leb are 100% spot on.

Here's the measuring stick for me regarding Butch (and this is how I measured Dooley and Kiffin). If he loses to Vanderbilt and Kentucky or comes up with a 4 win season then I think you say as a fan that the train is going backwards we aren't rolling right. I'm not going to take literally every practice where he goes off on the team as a time to hit the panic button. I checked out with Dooley because of the suck-ass recruiting and the off field junk which was more embarrassing than anything else. The record was terrible but I thought we should have fired the guy when we lost to Kentucky when they had a WR as a QB. I think this team will start off rocky but improve late....I can see us sweeping the Missouri, Vandy, and Kentucky to get bowl eligible. But I'm no Nostradamus...it's just me and my trust Phil Steele preview mag calling it like I see it....

You said we needed seven wins, or recruiting would take a substantial nosedive. I say six wins and a bowl game, and that bowl game does not necessarily have to be a win, although it would be nice. If we get to a bowl, then recruiting will be just fine for the 2015 cycle.

I'd rather be inexperienced and talented than experienced with no talent. What's going to be telling is how the team responds the latter half of the schedule after going through a meat grinder in the first half. If we win those last 3 games and make a bowl (and finish strong in recruiting) we'll be carrying some serious momentum.

If you think the posts in this thread look bipolar, don't venture into the football forum. They're gonna need some suicide negotiators over there.

Would someone copy and paste Volswillrise12's post for me. I became illiterate as soon as I saw the watermelon teets in his avi. Thanks ya'll.

This is not to anyone in particular but ran across this yesterday:
You cannot hang out with negative people and expect to live a positive life.
That being said, I will repeat my belief that our Vols will win 8 games (plus a bowl game) this season.
I feel very positive about this team.
