Why do we not move Sutton around on the field to cover the opposing teams best WR at all times? Ive noticed that we hardly ever flip our cornerbacks.

I wonder if they don't want him following them because both coopers tend to line up in the slot and that can be Suttons weakness. Sutton is a boss on the outside but where people can get him is on thee quick inside hitters like slants etc over middle.

I was asking myself that the entire game, especially when Coleman got blown by (again). I answered, "IDK". :loco:

Where's BB with some insight?

@ColFootballNews: You ready for this? If Florida beats USC & Vandy, if Georgia loses to UK OR AU, & if Mizzou loses to TN & either A&M or Ark, Gators in SEC champ

#savechump

Wow. That's not even that far fetched from happening.

I think it's this. Seattle's defense does the same thing, primarily to keep each individuals strength where they are best utilized and to minimize the effects of motion by the offense.

Start moving cam around and you open up holes everywhere.

Easier to roll coverages and shade opposite Cam. At some point someone has to make a play back there.

We dont have a ballhawks FS like a deon Grant, who capable of covering mistakes so there is no sure fire solution

The best answer I've gotten is that it messes up their overall defensive scheme. If they go man, they'd keep their LBs back more, and it would take pressure off the QB. Plus, I think they were playing a lot of zone this week in fear of SC's fast receivers.

You can't really have one guy playing man and the rest in zone because that would allow the offense to more easily scheme around your coverages.

I know Randolph and McNeil have a lot of tackles but they are struggling in pass coverage. Randolph seems to be slower this year. I don't know if that is the new weight or an injury but I've seen more bust on his side than McNeil or Kelly's but granted I don't know if that is Williams/Mosley/Coleman fault or Randolph. Prob mix of both.

The solution will be to find a faster, better CB. So who is in the wings next year?

Yep. They played a good game against Florida on the road, but other than that they have been pretty ineffective.

UK has a slightly worse offense than USC and a slightly better defense. As long as we can get away from giving up huge plays like we did to the Cooper twins the last two weeks, I doubt they will score more than 21 or so.

I agree that Kentucky's defense is better.

According to ESPN's stats, I wouldn't call Kentucky's offense slightly worse than South Carolina's. It looks worse by a good margin.

Williams and Mosely are about as fast as it gets.... One is a sophomore and other a true freshman.... Experience is bigger factor for them.

That's what I was thinking. I think they've got some players there, but they are still pretty green. Still, you gotta keep bringing them in so they develop before they have to hit the field. Obviously, that's still a huge challenge for this team.

Cam Sutton is the exception, not the rule (it'd still be nice to find another Sutton or two).

I agree with this. We all knew there would be growing pains with young DBs. So I think this is just apart of that growing process. I'm ready to see Gauldin back there at S though.

Works been crazy hectic lately, so I haven't been on much. A few notes from the other night that have been on my mind:

1. I couldn't believe we could pull that game out, and was even in disbelief when it was Final. I hate you Derek Dooley!

2. South Carolina's fan base is pitiful. No way Neyland is empty in that same situation.

3. Favorite call of the night: "That'll do Pig, that'll do." Love that movie, creative call.

4. Dobbs = Man

5. Gilliam = Inspiration

6. This team is very well conditioned.

7. Win out, and confidence rolling into '15 will be sky high.

8. Go Vols!

Has anyone noticed how well UT's opponents have been doing?

Utah State is 6-3 so far with a win over a ranked-at-the-time BYU. Their only other losses are to Colorado St. (only other loss to Boise St.) and Arkansas State.

Speaking of Arky State, they are 5-3 with other losses to Miami (FL) and Louisiana-LaFayette.

Chattanooga, while an FCS school, is 6-3 with early season losses to Central Michigan and an overtime loss at one-loss (to Mich. St.) Jacksonville State. They've been dominant in their conference.

The rest of UT's opponents have winning records as well, except South Carolina. They are all ranked, except Florida and SC. With their three remaining games @Florida, South Alabama, and @Clemson, SC may not become bowl eligible.

Even the easy guys are tough by easy guy standards.

The offense finally having the defense's back had to have that D juiced going into the OT. D-line dominance.
