Butch can point to this game for the next however many years he is here and show the success that can be attained through maximum effort and fight.

It really is the first time that all of his little sayings and cliches were shining through and really meaning something as it relates to an actual football game.

Just a wonderful wonderful win.

Butch's little sayings and clichés remind me of my late father talking about Gen. Neyland and the fact that he was brought to Tennessee to beat Vanderbilt. A little history, in the 19 UT - Vandy games before Neyland, Vandy had a 15-2-2 record. After Neyland took over the years he coached Tennessee teams we were 16-3-2. Neyland had his "Maxims" that he preached to his teams and they are still used now. I know it's probably hard for some people to understand but it's Gen. Neyland's dislike for Vandy (and George Cafego's hate for Vandy) that instilled a strong hatred in my father and me for that team.
I see nothing wrong with Butch using his clichés and sayings on his teams to get them to want to win and to fight for their team. Whatever it takes to win. GBO

Defense needs the BYE week badly but boy have they kept us alive all season long.

Thought I'd post this.. where we stand in the SEC Ranks. Most of the SEC has already played their cupcakes while we have gone through the gauntlet and will be licking our chops with Kentucky, offense-less Mizzou and Vandy-being-Vandy. Expect us to rise significantly on the charts.

Notice only AJ is a Sr on this list. This is going to be a fun few years for our Vols.

Sacks
3rd Barnett - 7 (15th Nationally) (leader 11)
6th Maggitt - 6

TFL
2nd Barnett - 14 (7th Nationally) (leader 16)
9th Maggitt - 9
11th AJ Johnson - 8.5
13th JRM - 8

Tackles
1st AJ Johnson - 96 (9th Nationally) (2nd - 87)
6th JRM - 71
7th Randolph - 68

INTs
4th Cam Sutton - 4 (leader 9)

Same here.

At the end of the day, he's dealing with guys that are around 18-22. The vast majority of us are pretty dim at that age, and sayings and clichés are appealing. I'm just glad they seem to take to it most of the time.

I'm pretty sure Cam Sutton just has 3 interceptions this season, not 4.

And I believe Shane Ray from Missouri leads the SEC with 12.0 sacks.

Kentucky thinks UT is the easiest game on the schedule. Could be the difference between going to a bowl game and no bowl for them. If they lose to UGA & us they'll be 5-6.

We owned Kentucky last year, but I hope we're not taking them lightly this year.

I don't disagree with most of the reasons you guys listed in favor of Jones, just the notion that it's irrefutable or even laughable to suggest otherwise.

There are still plenty of questions regarding this staff, significantly less than the previous regime but, it is because of the lessons learned from that disgrace of a head coach that I scrutinize so thoroughly.
