I think the biggest issue is that a coach who will not be with the team next year dismissed him. He absolutely should have been suspended for this game, but the new coach should have been the one to have the final call.

Oh for sure, and for the record I enjoyed it too. Jennings should be suspended indefinitely. I was just comparing the content of those singular incidents, not the whole body of work.

His actions were directed against the Kansas Jayhawk football team, who last time I checked, couldn't dismiss a play at another football program.

Had Baker grabbed his junk and dog cussed Lincoln Riley and not been dismissed you may have an arguement.

It isn’t racism but it’s a garbage move by the coaches and AD. They face some criticism and can’t handle it so they cut the kid? That’s a move of weakness IMO

I’m with you on the should have been indefinitely suspended.

Think it was a knee jerk reaction that may have quite a few unintended consequences. This maybe being one.

Very mixed opinion.

On one hand, I dislike the idea of a temporary caretaker making a decision that has ramifications beyond his term here, and the more I think about it, the more I dislike it. A no-brainer dismissal for a major arrest would be one thing... but this isn't that. This is a coach on thin ice trying to make an example of somebody who opposes him.

On the other, Jennings has been a punk ever since he got here. Call it what it is. He was accused of assault and theft in the offseason before he got here. He got arrested for drugs earlier this year. He constantly got in fights on the field. A lot of people looked the other way because he made some plays for us. But this isn't an isolated example of bad decision-making. He has compiled an impressive list of boneheaded behavior, and this is just the latest bullet point.

In conclusion, eff both parties.

No justification for his actions but I and many question the severity of the punishment. I personally think there should be an avenue for return. It should be a tough road but should be there.

Dude are you serious?! You have to be under 30... This entire thing is about respect and respecting your coaches whether you agree with them or not... who the hell is this kid? He's like 20 and thinks this is okay? Pretty crazy folks on here think it is okay and just because he's caught some passes and won some games (which he is there to do and required to do to fulfill his scholarship requirements) he can say and do whatever he wants... sad. By getting booted I am assuming and hoping his scholarship is instantly booted as well. If you want to be treated like a man, ACT like a man.

He should've been suspended. Dismissal for speaking your mind is BS. We've kept players who were being investigated for rape (Lane and others) yet JJ gets dismissed for the truth?!

Perhaps Jennings legitimately IS on his 7th strike (give or take a few) and has very, very poor odds of finishing his career at Tennessee without screwing up again based on a pattern of behavior.

Currie knows this and knows that dismissing Jennings will be a VERY unpopular move. To spare the new coach the backlash before he has even coached a game, he instructed Hoke to go ahead and pull the plug, seeing as how Hoke will be gone in a matter of days.

It would be nice if they could hold it together one more week so we don't hit those historical lows of never losing 8 games and winless in the conference. If this divides the team they may not even be competitive against Vandy.

Brandon Johnson’s uncle posted that Jennings deserved the suspension and that he “got away with murder” on the team. Didn’t elaborate though
