Kiffin has so many red flags. Hes been fired three times during the season twice in September (!) and once days before the national championship game (!). He makes enemies everywhere he goes, including Tennessee. Houston Nutt wiped the floor with him, as did Neuheisel, who know makes a living off of corny pre-game sideshows in CBS. He went 6-7 here, got half his team arrested, wrecked his Lexus, brought the NCAA to town and torched our program with his January exit and now hes hanging out in Florida trolling us on Twitter about it between interviews with Chris Low and Clay Travis. What a joke.
The browns of College Football ATM.
I hated Kiffin at the time. I think he has grown up and I expect to be in the minority there and with my opinion.
But I am a sad pathetic fan for wanting Kiffin back? Come on Ron I have a different opinion. Come on man.
Seriously, take Petrino. He's probably the best guy we can get right now and he'll win. The media is already excoriating us. So I say we Gaulden all of 'em and hire somebody who's going to whip this program back in shape. Nothing would please Petrino more than to win the SEC and shove it at everyone who ridiculed him. Doubt Tennessee will make a bold move... but we should.
UT doesn't just need a coach here guys. We need a complete rebranding. We need a guy that unites the fanbase through likely bad seasons to come. He also needs to be sellable as a favorable media figure.
There aren't many of those guys laying around in a sport where guys like Schiano are heralded as high charachter guys.
Tee is about it for this program right now.
Closest likely comparison in a worst case scenario for Tee is Derek Mason.
Say what you want about Derek Mason but Media and players like the guy and he has beat our ass. He has struggled like hell and is learning on the job, but we know Tee can recruit better and should have a better staff.
He's the AD for the foreseeable future. It's insane. The guy tried to sneak around and force Greg Schiano on us while working in cahoots with Jimmy Haslam and lying to other big boosters. And he's still going to be the guy in charge of all UT athletics moving forward. He will make more firing and hiring decisions.
Insane. Absolutely insane.
I am just so disappointed.
This is not my university. Its a shell of its former self.
And to rebuild it feels exhausting and impossible.
Yuck.
