UT doesn't just need a coach here guys. We need a complete rebranding. We need a guy that unites the fanbase through likely bad seasons to come. He also needs to be sellable as a favorable media figure.
There aren't many of those guys laying around in a sport where guys like Schiano are heralded as high charachter guys.

Tee is about it for this program right now.

Closest likely comparison in a worst case scenario for Tee is Derek Mason.

Say what you want about Derek Mason but Media and players like the guy and he has beat our ass. He has struggled like hell and is learning on the job, but we know Tee can recruit better and should have a better staff.

The brand right now is The Halsams and there will be no rebranding until we get rid of them.

I dont get it. why do people keep trying to seek the solution else where. Oh we need to fire John Currie, Oh we need a better coach, Oh we need better players, Oh we can't recruit well enough.

THE PROBLEMS ARE THE HASLAMS PERIOD.

You've got to have a serious BVS flare up to even consider wanting Kiffin anywhere near our university as anything other than an opposing coach.

I’m not trying to hurt your feelings man. But yes, it’s pathetic to want him back. It’s like the battered wife who wont leave her abusive husband. Stop it and have some self respect.

I get it, I do. Doesn’t mean I would change my opinion. Doesn’t mean I wouldn’t have buyers remorse.

I would want Tee at this point first and plenty others before him but then again he’s always been on my list. Right or wrong and I get many wouldn’t agree and not sure we can go down that path as of now either from a realistic standpoint.

If I was the AD I wouldn’t call him as much as I might want to.

Venables?

- Hubbs

I found the guy that will bring us back. Brent Pease.

Got fired this year from his OC duties at UTEP after an 0-3 start.

SEC ties from his miserable stint at UF.

....... I started typing this as parody then it became too real for me that we might go here so I’ll stop.

Van Pelt is right everybody is playing coaching musical chairs hoping for their Nick Saban. There was one home run hire this year and UCLA won. Frost maybe could spark Nebraska. You need the right fit and for us its Tee Martin. I'm convinced.

I don't think Currie has a 5 mil by out. I think they said he has guaranteed contract. We would owe remainder of that if fired. Since only here for short time that would cost us about 5 mil. Still not good, but not buy out. I maybe wrong but how I read it.

How in the **** are we rattling off all these quasi potentials and ignoring Les Miles though? We would be his last chance and he is by far our best chance at a championship level coach.

If I am Currie I make him a basic deal and let him chew grass and whip ass. He could at least beat Vandy, UK and Mizzou.

It makes zero sense. His players loved him. He was great with boosters and city. He won championships. Media loves him. He can recruit. He can hire Chavis as DC again. Just needs an OC. He will be energized to prove people wrong. He is another great fit for that locker room right now. Who knows maybe even bring Moffit and thomas from lsu. It's literally the hire that would have media back in love with us

Seriously, take Petrino. He's probably the best guy we can get right now and he'll win. The media is already excoriating us. So I say we Gaulden all of 'em and hire somebody who's going to whip this program back in shape. Nothing would please Petrino more than to win the SEC and shove it at everyone who ridiculed him. Doubt Tennessee will make a bold move... but we should.

I might (might) be with you if I thought he’d win. But why would you be confident about that? He lost to Wake and BC (plus NC State and Clemson) with Lamar Jackson at QB this year.

Have to kick the tires or shake the burmuda

Feel the same. The fanbase made its only play yesterday out of absolute desperation. It has changed nothing. Haslam is still in charge. Currie is still AD (and appears to be unfireable). The rest of our administration is still incompetent.

And for some reason, the national media has chosen to make a martyr of a Greg Schiano, for the sole purpose of kicking us while we're down.

I don't know. I said earlier that I'm close to giving up. We'll see what tomorrow brings.
Go Vols.

I'm with you. I'm glad we blocked the Schiano hire but it doesn't matter. The Haslams are just going to feed us crappy hire after crappy hire. We can't win with them controlling stuff. It will never happen. If we do get lucky and land a top-notch coach accidentally, he will leave because they'll interfere or do something stupid.

It feels like a completely hopeless situation. I now understand Larry 100%.

Absolutely. Get it right!

Seriously invol..How would that work?.. We have a 30-50th ranked class this year and then even worse next year because staff has to have time to find, evaluate and court players, to add to a horrid roster already. What sane human being is going to take the job, and try and turn that around after the 2018 season is done. Which would probably be a nightmarish 1-11 or worse with lame duck interims running it. This might be the stupidist idea of all time really, and I know you are not stupid, I'm not calling you that, but you are talking about a REAL self imposed death penalty. That is insane..

We would get hammered in the media for hiring Petrino

We're being hammered now. We've been piled on all year for every little thing. We're the most ridiculed, vilified and despised program in CFB. We could hire Pope Francis and a staff of Benedictine Monks and the media would hate the chants.

So we might as well do what's best for us and ignore the noise because the whole sports world is going to find fault with anything we do.

Tennessee Football will not recover until Haslam dies. He is what 80 so maximum 20 more years

Jimmy will inherit his influence. He basically already has.

The Haslam's will control the University until someone, be it other boosters, adminstrators, faculty, staff, legislators, or just regular fans, puts a stop to it.

I hope AV, Charlie Anderson, Thunder Thornton, Baldy, Ergen, and everyone else up there who is fed up finally takes a stand. This crap has to end.

They were here when Fulmer was. People say the same thing about Jerry Jones too and are right but he also has a bookcase full of rings. I have worked for a Haslam type. Suckiest period of my life when he got so controlling you couldn't breathe, but he hired good people and they worked around his crazy ass. It can happen here too. That kind of money and influence takes decades to replace. For now the only hope I have is a lucky hire.

Man SVO and Reese are actually having a good realistic conversation.

Theres Saban, Urban, and Dabo.

<— insert a mile —>

Then everyone one else. Even Jimbo, Chip and some other really good coaches. Teams have to quit firing these coaches for not winning national titles.

Let me tell you why I want Lane Kiffin right now (even though it is 100% unrealistic)

Lane Kiffin is 100% the only person that will tell the Haslams to SHUT IT. I am taking control of this football program and I am going to do it my way.

as bas as what Lane Kiffin did to our University, The Haslams have done far greater.
