I don't think Currie has a 5 mil by out. I think they said he has guaranteed contract. We would owe remainder of that if fired. Since only here for short time that would cost us about 5 mil. Still not good, but not buy out. I maybe wrong but how I read it.

You’re right. It’s not $5m. It’s $5.4m. 🤒

You cannot possibly “revolt” against Schiano because of ethics and then trot out Petrino. Come on man, we’re already walking the plank in the court of public appeals.

Nothing's going to fix that but winning. We're already perceived as an outlaw school with a crazy fanbase. Well, I'd rather be a winning one than a losing one. Alternately, we could make a weak, sad hire befitting our new role as the doormat of the SEC.

They think they’re good hires. They don’t know what they’re doing.

Jimmy Haslam stewed on a throwaway Bill Belichik comment about Greg Schiano being a good coach for 4 years, and then tried to push that hire on to UT. And that was after him forcing it onto Cleveland causing the front office to implode because of how horrible of an idea it was.

Dude is an utter moron.

who is worse in your mind man.

Lane Kiffin who did UT wrong by leaving for his dream job

or the Egotistical Haslams who have set UT back 30 years.

Umm Kiffin would only entrench the Haslam's power bro. Lest you forget their guy helped oust Fulmer for Kiffin.

Is this even a real question? Serious. **** Kiffin.

Petrino is a weak, sad hire. But otherwise I agree with you.

I don’t understand why the Haslams want to force the Schit ano type hires.

What’s to gain? Firing coaches is expensive

Control.

will you please start looking at my post.

Billionaires dont care about money as long as they have power/control. they will pay for it period.

I majored in Psychology I have a multimillionaire dad who is egotistical just like any multimillionaire/billionaire.

They want to have control/power not only in the coaching search, but with coach itself.

Worse his boy Currie had a man crush on him at K state. Thought he would score a Saban swan song after his debacle in Nfl. They were operating in a bubble and had the entire crew convinced. It is what happens when you surround yourself with only people that share your opinion.

I wish we could go back and read the conversation this thread had a month or so ago. It was a civil conversation where a solid number of you had good things to say about Schiano as a Candidate. It was discussed that what he did at Rutgers was similar to Franklin at Vandy and Mullen at MSU. He had much more support than just myself.

THEN this thread fell for the grumors and we found out about Penn state. Funny to see so many here not owning up to initially liking him as a candidate. Now it's malpractice and illegal stuff while the nation laughs at us.

Why wouldn't they want us to be good then? That gets you as much control as you want? Serious question.

I threw his name out there several times. There are things to like about him. But he was never higher than a third or fourth-tier candidate for pretty much everyone. And that was before most of us were even aware of the PSU stuff.

It's easy to discuss these things and think of guys in a positive light when the coaching search looks bright and you think they won't be realistic candidates.

I was never on the Schiano train. Always thought he was a terrible coach. I've since found out he's a pos human being

IMO we are not going to do what's best for us. I fully expect the Haslams to try and teach this fanbase a lesson. We had an uproar over hiring an average and morally questionable coach. We cant turn around a hire a guy that has a verified marks on him

It'll be 1000 times worse if we hire Tee and get blown out by WVU then go 4-8 or 3-9 next year. Fans will be outraged and the media will trash us for turning on our own.

Yea I don't think anyone wanted him at the top
But once we got past What many would call the unrealistic candidates he wasn't far off.
