Keep doubting

Yup. The way the early rankings are shaping up is going to make it damn near impossible to keep us from a top 3 (read: #1 class) finish if we have any kind of success this year.

Gibbs is 6
Johnson 9
Higgins 21
Maleik Gray 48
Ty Chandler 64
JaCoby Stevens 66

No doubt Iona

Also, I think it's ridiculous that Mahoney still makes more than Coach G and Coach Z even after the raises

I didn't realize that. I thought I saw that Coach G & Z got most of the 250k. I would guess that after a year as recruiting cord, Coach G will be in line for another big bump next year. As good of a coach ZA is, I would like to see some real production from the unit as a whole this year. Its obvious that all the players love him, but hopefully they stay healthy and that unit blows up this season.

We entered the 2014 season with a combined 6 starts on the offensive line.

The 2015 OL will start the season with 64 combined starts. In addition, the 2014 offensive line had 63 combined appearances in games, while the 2015 offensive line will have 154 appearances.

Is the top player out of TN this year Joejuan Williams? No really big names this year I guess like Richmond, Hurd, or Malone?

The rankings will probably shift considerably over the next few weeks as players attend workouts and camps. Bituli, Gooden, and Joejuan, and maybe a few other instates, stand a reasonable chance of cracking the top 100, and possibly getting a fifth star.

Iirc, Malone and Richmond were both in the 50-100 range at this point in their recruitment, though their stock afterward soared.

I'd have felt better if they improved over the year. They didn't. Except for the bowl I guess, but Iowa just sucked.

Coach G & Coach Z make 350k

Mahoney makes 360k

They have a nice advantage with in-state talent in that LA kids tend to be pretty loyal to LSU and a lot of them are actually from Baton Rouge.

That's true. Just a very interesting strategy that G is taking. Maybe he can pull some top recruits out of LA this year or next. And maybe there's a flux of talent coming out of the high schools that are willing to leave LA. I'd be very happy with some LSU talent on our team.

Our staffs total salary including Butch Stones is $7.27 mil....or just $110k more than saban himself at $7.16 mil.

He saw an opportunity to scoop some talent when Chavis left, IMO. Having Orgeron will help in that department but Kevin Steele is no Chief.

they wont be worse. Plus it didnt help that Worley was standing back there for half the season. And it didnt help that our WRs were all banged up. UFs situations is awful. UT, LSU, Mizzou, Ole Miss and UGA's D Lines will destroy them. I know Ivey will probably have to start but he weighs like 270-275lbs right now. UTs OL prob wont be great but it wont be as bad as last season.

They did improve, but it's hard to improve significantly when you're in the middle of a season and dealing with guys getting shuffled around due to injuries.

The most important part about those numbers is that outside of the freshman OL and Raulerson, everyone has at least some in-game experience and most have starting experience.

Jackson, Kerbyson, and Crowder are legitimate SEC veterans at this point as well. They may not be great, but it doesn't hurt to have 3 guys with at least 15-20 starts and 30-40 game appearances.

i know there are still good players in the league but it doesnt hurt that a few of the really good DL are gone like Dante Fowler Jr, Darius Cummings, Neiron Ball, Leon Orr, Shane Ray, Markus Golden, Matt Hoch, Lucas Vincent, Trey Flowers, Darius Philon, Zadarius Smith and Bud Dupree. Also helps that they dont have to play against Ole Miss's DL this yr. It helps that all 6'6 330lbs of Jordan Phillips is no longer at OU. Still gotta see Striker though. But It will be better overall this yr..

Even Utah State had a couple NFL players on their Defense. Vigil, Larsen and Fackrell. This yr you get Bowling Green who will be featuring ex Vol Malik Brown haha. A BGSU defense that gave up about 35ppg in the MAC.

Improvement is expected along the Oline with more experience, especially with fundamentals and Run blocking.

Don't expect to see much improvement in pass blocking. However Dobbs mobility is a significant upgrade over Worley. Expecting to see more play calls such as SLANTS this year.

Our overall talent at the skill positions is getting better and that will make the OL look more solid.

Yes, its comfirmed. Feel for Big Rod. Kid was the heart of that offense. Had NFL potential but glad they caught it. Guy on ToS said he probably played with it last yr. Scary stuff. Hopefully he continues to work hard towards his degree.

4 OL lost to Medical DQs in a little over 2 seasons.

If you have XM radio or SEC Network, listen/watch Paul Finebaum right now. 5 callers in the row (UGA/FL fans) calling hating on Paul because he said Tennessee could be a contender in the East. It's pretty funny.

Weighed in at 292 a few weeks back.

He was going to start at RG or RT this season before injury to RJ.
Pencil him in for RT game 1.

It's amazing how so many fans assume that a down period for a major program like Tennessee means it will NEVER be relevant again. I mean, opposing fans who don't believe that the Vols are doomed to suck forever are in the extreme minority.

The only ones who recognize that we're on the way up are Gamecocks fans, and that's only because we've beat them twice in a row.

Not even sure SC fans beleive it. Not even sure they understand they are headed back down to where they belong in the SEC.
