Whoa.

@John_BriceVQ: It's bricks on bricks for this @UTCoachJones guy; @Guarantano18 is #Vols 39th #Rivals 4- or 5-star since 2014. Think about that.

Was my pre-hype-season prediction. Still think it might be the case...but...when us Vol fans were pumping it up in years past, it was these same sports-channel-talking-heads that were saying we were not so good...and they were right. Now that they are throwing around 10-2, it really makes you wonder...

I think we'll be able to make a pretty good guess on the W/Ls once fall camp is underway. The guys who cover the team day in and day out are usually pretty close with their predictions. I think 8-4 is probably the prediction we'll see unless Dobbs becomes a Heisman-caliber QB or KMac is Barnett 2.0 at the DT position.

I don't remember my reaction when we hired Butch Jones - good or bad. I was wrong either way. The guy has exceeded all expectations I had for him up to this point. Very proud to have him as our football coach.

What're you thinking? Losses at Bama and who?

I got us losing to Bama, UGA, OU, and Arky. I think we beat Florida. Yeah I said it...

Boy, I remember mine. My wife woke me up and said "we got a coach". I jumped up and said "who is it".

She said "Butch Jones"

I said "we always screw up hires"


I was very wrong. Thank God fans don't hire coaches

I really think 3 years from now people will be mentioning Butch Jones as one of the top 5 or 6 active coaches in the country. He's building an army. That is perfectly clear. It's just a matter of time now before we bust through and start demolishing people. If not this year then definitely next. We are headed straight towards becoming one the most talented teams in the country.

We're not building around one star player that gives us a chance at a dream season. This is how you build a sustainable dynasty that lasts a decade.

We coming.

And he started with nothing. I mean, this program was on life support. A bad hire could have killed it for another 10 years. 2014 could have easily been a 2-3 win season with all the players we lost on the offensive and defensive lines.

Imagine last season with no Dobbs, Barnett, or Hurd. Imagine replacing Worley with Peterman from Alabama through Vanderbilt. That's a 3-9 season.

Agreed.

He HAS to win this year, though. The "great recruiter, bad coach" label seems to be the consensus among other fanbases for him already, even though he did give Tennessee its first bowl win since 2008 and first winning season since 2009.
