Also just looked at VA techs schedule. They will likely finish 10-2, exactly where we should have been...

Considering they already have 2, in your scenario you think it's likely that they win the ACCCG?

Also, wouldn't be shocked if they lose to GTech this weekend. Wouldn't bet on it because it's in Blacksburg but still wouldn't totally surprise me.

Will never ever complain about going to a bowl again.

Think of all those years that Tennessee was not bowl eligible or the coaches deserted the team (kiffin) or just Dooley.

Yep. Thanks for putting things in perspective. If this team can win out and be 9-3, then I remember making a post that I would never complain about that. Expectations for this year were certainly higher, but in reality with all of the injuries, I surely will not complain. Lose one of the next three games, and I will be disappointed.

Okay so what are we thinking about Saturday?

Everyone says they have a good running game and we are razor thin at DT. Do they run it between the tackles or outside? Need strong games from the LBs and safeties to prevent big plays.

Which Dobbs shows up? Can they cover Malone and Jauan?

Can they stop the Kamara/Kelly show?

Yes agree Doc. Nothing worse than having nothing to look forward to when your team doesn't go to a Bowl game.

I think most of us predicted 10-2 so 9 -3 and winning the East is still a success in my mind. Anything less Knoxville we have a problem.

Yeah I think you have to grade on a curve for every given year based upon realistic expectations. For the Butch era:

2013: SEC East/10 Win Season = A; 9 wins = B+; 8 wins = B; bowl eligible = C

2014: SEC East/10 Win Season = A; 9 wins = B+; 8 wins = B; bowl eligible = C

2015: SEC Title A+; SEC East A-; 9 wins B+; 8 wins B; 7 wins C+; 6 wins C

2016: Playoffs/SEC Title A+; NY6 Bowl: A-; SEC East B; 8 wins C; less than 8 wins F

I expect UK to stack the box to stop Kelly and Dobbs. So Dobbs really needs to be sharp on his passing like last week. I expect Malone, JJ and if Kamera plays, him coming out of the backfield. I do expect Kelly to have a really good game along with Kamera, again if he plays.

What about stopping UK's running game?

I think it all comes down to our run defense against their rushing attack. Defense needs to start fast and play well the whole game. Stop this giving up 14 points in the 1st quarter.

This is probably the most important game in terms of starting fast and building a lead. We have to take them out of their game.

Same thing stack the box and make them throw. We are going to need our LB's keying on their QB and RB's everywhere they go. I know our DB's are weak but I believe that is the only way we can. And if Sutton plays I wuld feel so much better about stacking the box and stopping their run first.

First three years with bUTch as the coach against KY. KY was thought to have a legit shot in all these games. I don't see the results changing on Saturday.

2013 Lexington, KY Tennessee 27–14
2014 Knoxville, TN Tennessee 50–16
2015 Lexington, KY Tennessee 52–21

I think this year's game will be similar to 2013 in terms of the score line. UK has a good rushing offense, and they may be able to control the tempo of the game a bit more than they have in the past. Moreover, their rushing attack sets up nicely against us given our injuries at DT.

I don't know that "most" on here were predicting 10-2. I predicted 10-2 and got bashed for it.

When I look at where we are right now, I have mixed emotions. On the one hand, considering the injuries we've sustained, I don't think 9-3 would be a bad result at all. Oh, and we beat Florida. That has to count for something, right?

On the other hand, in spite of all the injuries, it was mistakes and turnovers that really cost us the A&M game, and there have been several games (all of them except for TTU really) that we have just come out flat and uninspired. How much blame do the coaches deserve for that and how much is on the players? I'm really not sure, but that's what I'm chewing on as I think about the job this staff has done. Coming in to the season I was really excited about Butch and this team. Now, having watched us sleepwalk through most of the season, I find myself considerably less enthused yet not at all ready to write them off.

I am with you on your last 2 sentences. The thing that I keep going back to are the discipline that Butch's teams had its first 3 seasons. Even if we were less talented, we didn't have many penalties, make dumb turnovers, or make mental mistakes. So, in my mind, I want to say that the players have had some issues this year with that regard.

The other thing that crossed my mind before this year was how much our seniors wanted to be cautious with injuries so that they can be healthy going to the NFL. We saw that under Fulmer in 99 when some of the players shut it down a bit. Now, I am not accusing them of doing that at all, and Cam, JRM, and Kamara all play hard and ended up getting injured. But, it's human nature to be cautious to protect your future. I really did have this as a concern, especially if a game went the wrong way early in the year.

A large majorly of the fanbas picked 10-2 at a minimum.

That was a realistic expectation before all of the injuries. In actuality it was still realistic even with all of the injuries, as the injuries are not what cost us two of our games. The thing That we never expected was to be as undisciplined and unfocused as we were the first eight games of the year.

10-2 is regular season. They'll lose the ACCCG!
