Love it.

I chat with several Vol fans that I see on a weekly basis. We discussed expectations, the team, the games, etc.- all before the season. My exact statement was that "it will be a disappointment if we don't win the East. However, that does not mean Butch Jones should be fired."

It is crazy how that has now become the hot topic. I just don't believe the two go hand and hand. You can be disappointed without wanting change at the top, and I think that is where some of the division comes from. People automatically want to fire the coach when they get pissed off. Changes to other parts of the program are coming however.

Yeah, I just don't get the quantum leap from saying you're disappointed to fire everybody. There are so many reasons things went south-- some preventable, some not-- but the bottom line is, it was a disappointing season and it will be even more disappointing, if we don't fix it. It's also disappointing that the AD hire is taking so long. It's not like it was a surprise or we didn't have candidates.

I'm not disappointed in the efforts of these seniors, though-- I'm just disappointed that they're not leaving with a championship.

I agree. Can't imagine we make huge strides between now and then because we are still too depleted up front, However, we MUST show at least some tangible improvement on defense during this game.

I really enjoy your posts but you do need to change your ID. I inadvertently put you on ignore thinking it was the clown whose name is similar to yours. Thankfully, the name is where the similarity ends..

If he met with him today he can't meet him again?

Said butch used his last week now the assistants are going today...midget can't go back to back days

Trey announces tomorrow at 2:30. I couldn't imagine a scenario where another HC gets a visit in with CNS being there today.

I like Pat Narduzzi.

I didn't know the Pitt roster situation when he got there. I want to say they were playing some freshmen in the backend of the defense. But, he is a defensive guy, and it is strange that they are only winning by outscoring people. Their defense was not good. They gave up 30+ nine times.

My point is simply that if you expect more, it's okay to be-- and say that you are-- disappointed when you don't achieve it. I don't care what the excuses or reasons are-- and there will always be some-- not achieving something you set out to achieve is disappointing.

Being disappointed isn't an indictment. It isn't assigning blame and it doesn't have to be an expression of hostility-- though many make it out to be all of these things. It's simply saying you wish something had turned out differently. I, for one, expected more out of this season and wish it had turned out differently... though I understand why it did not.

Agree. I expect that the majority would be disappointed with how the season turned out. If you aren't you need to raise your expectations. It is the open hostility toward the coaches that are still coaching and recruiting for our football team that baffle me. Jones may not be the guy long term but he has revived this football program from the ashes and was on the verge of something special this year. I'm not ready to throw the baby out with the bathwater because things didn't go our way this year. I'm ready to see the changes that are made going forward and how Team 121 bounces back from a disappointing season.

Go ahead and shake your head. I knew we had a problem when TK got up there before Florida last year and regurgitated some of that Butch nonsense about 70% of the roster not playing a road game before. They buy into his garbage. Here is always an excuse prepared before the game is played. We expect to lose.

BS. You know they do not go into a game expecting to lose. You guys had to wait a little longer in this press conference before you found something to complain about. That's a really bad trait, to buy into what the coach is saying?

Fortenberry just on 104.5. He said Saban was at school this morning, then Urban, and then UT. No one getting a house visit and the family wants to be done with everything leading up to the announcement tomorrow. So we got the last official and the last coach's visit.

The mistakes are correctable. It's all dependent on if he wil willing to correctt them to win big here. He could really help himself with a few hires. Look at penn st. Franklin days look numbered so he brings in a new OC to change philosophy a bit. It worked. Butch needs to take page from his book and realize that he is not some offensive genius and that others are far more innovative

Totally agree with the post.

For one, I thought Shoop would tear it up this year. Then I learn he didn't really change the D; he just tried to call it differently to better fit his philosophy, tweak it some, and learn the existing terminology so the players didn't have to learn his. That is a Butch decision, not Shoop. It effectively tied one of Shoop's arms around his back even without injuries. Maybe he was wanting to hold onto his loyal assistants. If that was the case, why hire Shoop? Maybe he wanted to make sure this was "the" season and not mess with the players' understanding.

Franklin made the change at OC, turned over control, and the offense found success. He did that even though he was an offensive coach and OC his whole career before becoming a HC. That's the point. Do whatever it takes as a HC to get better and win. "Process" only takes you so far. Penn State's recruiting is just now making an appearance in the Top 20 for the first time in quite awhile. So it wasn't recruiting big that made the difference in getting them to the Rose Bowl - it was the coaching.
