Just now catching up and reading last night's posts after the game. Not sure why everyone is so happy Bama lost, just means we have a minimum of 2 more years of Saban, he isn't leaving until he surpasses Bear. The loss will have no effect on his recruiting.
I was at the point to where I was ready for him to get his and get the heck out of college football, best thing for us. JMO

I agree. No way he leaves any time soon, which hurts us. Now, Clemson will be another thorn and will be a recruiting juggernaut with a NC to point to. Last night's game was a lose-lose for us regarding the long-term effects from it. Only thing that might help is Dabo wanting to test the NFL waters and leaving, but probably won't happen.

I will never wish for Bama to get a win. Blasphemy.

MAYBE next year but Clemson is rolling right now. They have a lot of youth from a top defense returning and they're recruiting has been on another level the last three classes counting this one.

They are in a similar spot as us going into next year. QB is the unknown at the end of the day. The rest of the talent is there. Fully expect them to hang around the top 10-15 next year.

I hope he has to retire of old age having never obtained that elusive 5th championship.

Maybe dabo will beat him again and bammers will force him out for their prodigal son.

Oh maybe he was. Yeah Tua looked about same. Apparently he passes pretty well in the camps. He looked short. They also have that Mac Jones kid coming. Good luck beating hurts though kid has ice water in those veins

Can't pass at all tho. He has a lot of improving to do if he wants to be a good passer. He's pitiful right now.

If "us" is TN, QB is far from the only question mark for next years team. our secondary has problems, and we will miss Barnett more than people expect. I think the Malone departure will also hurt the Offense next year. The roster is an 8-4 team next year with TN's schedule.

You are being nice by saying our secondary has "problems" , I would say it is our biggest area of concern on both sides of the ball.... Someone will have to flat step up at WR besides JJ, and totally agree that we will miss Barnett more than folks think. Our DT depth with have to change as well... 8-4 is being very optimistic with breaking in a new QB and our middle school cover skills at DB....

I'm optimistic that our DBs improve. I expect Osborne to break out next season. He's the most talented corner we have imo, just needed experience and learning scheme. I think shoop will get the defense straightened out and a new DB coach will help too. I think Brandon Johnson has a chance to be great at WR opposite JJ. We also have Callaway and hopefully Latrell Williams takes over the slot and Byrd moves to corner as well. DL is worrisome, but I like what I saw from Kongbo towards the end of the year. He's not Barnett, but he, Phillips and Taylor can be very disruptive off the edge. We just have to hope we don't have injuries at DT and AJ and one of our incoming commits can contribute early. Hiring Hoke could improve the DL as well. If I had to predict next year, id say we drop Bama and LSU (tho the latter is a winnable game) and then if we can split GA and Florida we go 9-3. I don't see us losing to the garbage bin of the SEC again next season. They aren't good. We played awful against SC and our defense couldn't stop anybody when we played Vandy. Defense has already improved, that won't happen again next season I don't think barring significant injuries again. I also think that Rock dramatically improves our S&C and that will have an impact on the season also

Newsflash--- they are going to pull another #1 recruiting class this year and unfortunately aren't going anywhere.

I think they get dethroned by Ohio state this year. State is number 2 and are close but they only have 17 commits whereas Bama already has 26. Bama is about done, state has lot of room left

I like your optimism and yes hopefully this can all play out like you outlined.... the only piece I am not buying is our secondary... other than Osborne, I have not seen the talent improve at all, if anything, it has slipped. Something definitely needs to get settled and changed back there or it will be our achilles heel next season.

That's why I mentioned the new DB coach. We have talent there. Just have to develop them. Also, if they switch Byrd to defense the tandem of him and Osborne at corner with Gaulden at nickel could be elite. Just have to coach them up

Amazingly their average star rating from the 13 and 14 class was .876 and .866 or something like that. They didn't start crushing recruiting till 2015.

Agree with most of this. If Byrd moves to defense you have to think that the DBs can improve greatly. We have some talent there we just need someone to develop it. I hope shoop, being a CB guy, works with them exclusively this off season. Linebackers should be improved because of experience. DL is a huge question mark but defense has the potential to be solid. Not as good as our defense could have been this year before injuries but still solid.

I'm getting excited about the coaching upgrades. Rock at S&C, Hoke at DL, Barlow at DB, maybe Weinke at QB coach, these are big upgrades over what we had imo.

They had the right QB. They beat Alabama for multiple reasons, but one is because Watson is the best QB in the country. They just kept making plays.

Exactly - along with a former walk-on receiver (Renfrow) that knows how to run routes, has great hands, and that can also make tackles on DE's running with fumbles at important points in games.

Every QB centric offense, which is most currently, desires a Watson. It has been awesome to watch him for the past couple of years. We are not different in our approach, which is why it will be fun to watch our two battle it out. Hurts did not grow up much during the season and in the playoff games until the 4th quarter last night. He missed a lot of reads, both passing and running up to that point.

I am thrilled that the 'Bama has an NFL D' BS has been proven a myth on the national stage.
