People say inaccurate regarding Dobbs but I think the more accurate term (no pun intended) to describe him is inconsistent. He didn't have accuracy issues per se - he could place the ball just fine when he was on and had more than one beautiful back shoulder throw (memba that TD pass to Malone against Bama?) which is something that inaccurate passers just can't do. The problem was that sometimes he wasn't on or had too little protection to be anything but off.
I don't understand the media saying we'll have a huge drop off on offense. We lost Croom, Weisman, Dobbs, Malone, Kamara, Hurd. I liked Croom a lot, very talented, but the fact is he was under used and Jakob(or whoever #2 TE is) should step in and be just as productive. Weisman was hurt for some of last year and imo wouldn't start this year anyways. Dobbs was really good last season no doubt. But whoever starts will put up just as good numbers imo, the question is, how good will the Oline protect them. Malone was beastly, but we have very talented young WR's to replace him. Along with an experienced JJ.
Hurd, LOL. Kamara was amazing but he was greatly under used, and then when he finally did get a chance to start he got hurt and missed 2 games.
Overall I see a small drop off at most, if Jordan and Chandler are as good as talked about then we may see no drop off at all.
Everyone could say that. When you lose proven production, it's usually assumed the unproven talent behind them isn't a guarantee to replace that production. UF lost a ton on D, but they're probably saying "we have x y and z players behind them who are going to be just as good."
Kelly is already proven, JJ is proven, Byrd is proven, Oline returns most start for P5 teams and we have 2 QB's, both won't be a bust.
And the media has been hyping UF's defense all offseason
You could say that about every "inaccurate" QB. When people say inaccurate, it's kind of a synonym for inconsistent. The Marshall kid at Auburn was inaccurate, but there were a lot of times he threw some absolutely beautiful throws on a dime. So you could make the argument he had the ability to throw accurately he just didn't do it consistently. It's one in the same when talking about a qb, imo
This is the answer. And you don't release the starting quarterback's name until you're running out on the field so they have to prepare for both guys the entire week.
Ya but Kelly is not proven to be as good as Kamara and hasn't proven he can handle the #1 workload all season, OL wasn't great in pass pro and struggled overall at times, and you're absolutely guessing that our QBs "won't be a bust." QB alone is reason enough to doubt that our offensive production will be worse. Look at all the highly rated QBs Bama has had that didn't pan out. We are not immune to that either. I predict we'll be fine, but you can't fault writers for doubting.
