He stares things down a lot in the actual game action I watched. That Spring Game isn't a factor for me. I watched Cromptom go crazy one year and bomb out that Fall.

We'll see what he does but I'm not seeing it yet. If he wins the big games then cool. I'm beyond being satisfied with beating Top 15-20 teams personally though. Need some top 10 wins.... And in dominant fashion...

I want a seven-figure salary, a house on the beach in Destin and 6 months paid vacation every year too but I love my job (even though I'm not paid a lot), I have a great home (even though it's not on the beach) and I have plenty of PTO every year (even though I'd like to take 5 vacations a year).

My point is, I'll take wins over top 25 teams first and be thrilled with wins over top 10 teams because, regardless if they're by an average margin of 1 point, I'm not about to complain if we're getting W's in the win column (much).

If we aren't stepping into the elite this year with the talent we have coupled with that weak schedule(the East is weak sauce) then we need a new coach. 10 wins minimum..... And dominate teams that aren't supposed to be on the field with us. We need to dominate Florida and Georgia this year. A message has to be sent nationally that Tennessee football is back and it needs to be done this year in Year 5.

BB, I tend to trust your opinion over a lot of posters, you have always had more of an educated opinion than most on here but, as far as I'm aware, you haven't seen anymore than members in the media and I haven't heard anything about QD staring down receivers like you have mentioned.

But I get it, JG's skill set is a better fit in this offense.

Edit: My reaction when I realized who I MISTAKENLY quoted:

Hoss the law of averages says if a QB is "easy to pickoff" the more he throws the more the inaccuracy shows. Sorry for another swing and a miss hoss

How when we weren't even playing close coverage. We only ran 2 defenses. A cat corner blitz and cover 1 with DBs playing 8 yards off. That Spring Game proved nothing again.... The QBs combined to miss one pass.... I'm done responding to you though. Back to ignore land you go.

Even when we were a top 5 national team, we didn't dominate every game, a la Syracuse and Arkansas in '98 and 🤢 Memphis in '96...among many, many other close games.

I just want Wins, period. I don't care if they're ugly. I'd take an ugly 14-0 than a pretty 10-3.

Did you mean to quote Bruin? I ask because you said he had an educated opinion and I thought you might be under duress in some way. Lol.

By the way, is Ashley still doing well? We need some updated photos if you don't mind sharing.

Dobbs would do it at times last year.(ex: The overtime pass against A&M).

What about smashing Cal in front of America in 2006? Need a win like that....

I agree the spring game should be taken with a grain of salt but JG wildly threw one that should have been a pick and another catch or two where behind the receivers and he was bailed out. Not good with the D playing like you said.

This QB "discussion" is really all about what type of offense you personally want to see.

Dobbs, or somebody highly mobile like him, was necessary to win games during much of the time he was here. The type O Butch ran with the limited offensive line made it necessary. Add in that Malone was not Malone until last season. Dobbs' limitations also made the O be what it was.

Many on here like the classic pro-style QB that has mobility. Guess what, both QD and JG are those guys. JG is not a DT, Ainge has pointed that out numerous times. He better not be because he will get broken in half with his physique. Dobbs is much stronger physically than JG even though JG is quicker. JG has more mobility than QD, but he is not DT. There are good reasons OC Scott is modifying the O. One of the major ones in addition to building a more diverse offense that is harder to defend, is that the QB's are mobile pro-style and not DT.

The actual performance in practices and games will determine who wins the job. But accepting the abilities of who you have and the offensive scheme is more than half the battle for fans. Whoever handles the offense the best, has the confidence of the other players and coaches, is more accurate, and is quicker with correct thinking will win out. If it is the guy that runs the ball the best, we are in trouble. That means the O-line stinks and we are not passing well.

No, I absolutely did not mean to quote Bruin. My apologies to the board.

I'll believe JG isn't a dual threat when I see it. Ohio State was after him extremely hard for a reason.

We would have to play flawlessly but I agree. We shouldn't choose our QB based on beating Bama. It should be who gives us a consistent season that has the best chance to win the east.

Totally agree.

If we sweep the East we are in a Atlanta and a NY6 bowl that is the next step.

(Not conseading LSU either but if you lose to UF & Bama beating LSU is pretty moot because UF prob won't have 3 SEC losses if they beat us.)

.

Great post but but but but one QB looks like Cam Newton(a better pure passer than Manning) and one looks slow and like an easy one to pick off.

It sure would be nice to walk into a top 10-15 ranked UF @the swamp and dominate them from start to finish.

That would raise some eyebrows.

I'm obviously not expecting that but it would be amazing.

I think we have a great shot winning the lsu game. They will have discovered O is a joke by then.
