Peneiro has an amazing leg, he's kicked it 81 yards in practice, last year he made a 55 yarder with plenty of room to spare. Mac probably would have kicked it if they got to the 50/45. So they really only needed 15/20 yards to attempt it.

Cover two was probably the worst thing you can call in that situation. Back the CB's up about 10 yards, back safeties up about 30 yards. Keep everything in front. They only had 1 play before attempting a FG. Worse case scenario should have been a 15 yard catch and they either go for an actual Hail Mary or they attempt a 65 Yard FG.

In that situation I'm not convinced that the best strategy isn't just telling your DBs to tackle the WRs to the ground once the ball is snapped.

They get 5 yards and a first down, but then you've forced their hand on the last play of the game.

I get it. Coaching speculation is now a permanent feature. Yawn. At present we have 7 SEC games yet to play.

I like Mullen, but you seriously have to look at his records and schedules. Not all records are equal. 2014 was a great year, but they didn't play a P5 OOC game, and they got UK and Vandy from the East. Lost to Ole Miss and GTech. 2015 was Dak's senior year. Again, they didn't play a P5 OOC game and got UK and Mizzou from the East. Lost to Ole Miss again.

2009, 2013, and 2016 are the only years they have played a P5 OOC game, and they have lost all of them. At GTech in 2009, Okie State in 2013, and at BYU in 2016.

He's a great coach, no doubt about it. He does more with less than most coaches in the country. Those are the type of guys you look for to be a consistent winner.

He will lead Mississippi State to its 8th straight bowl game this year. Mississippi State. 8 straight.

They had 12 bowl appearances in the 114 years before Mullen.

He's also done this at a time where the SEC West has been the toughest division in college for the better part of a decade.

Ok you guys are right let's hire another coach with nearly a losing record in conference. That will get us where we need.

Not sure how much I buy this. JG didn't run a QB sneak. Jones was the only OL who jumped offsides. You usually don't see only one guy jumping off if the QB messes up the snap count.

Not saying I want him but not saying I would hate him either...but thoughts in Jeff Fisher in college in general? Not specific to TN just as a college coach.

He has tossed around the idea in past before it was obvious his NFL time was over. i would think he still wants to be a HC and it would have to be in college like
Lovie Smith. Be kind of cool to see if he could get over his .500 hump somewhere in college lol

Never understood this argument. What would said head coach do without said players he recruited.

The whole point is that he recruited that great player, why on earth would that be a knock on him?

Ya, I only remember one OL jumping. And when the ball was snapped,JG moved backward, not forward
