Cutting off the power is a great idea when there are downed power lines. Several volunteers died in the Houston area floods when their boats drifted into downed lines.

Wow I didn't know that. Florida is normally well prepared for hurricanes. Supposedly(not 100% sure) some cities in south Florida that are supposed to be hit hardest have already cut power off.

Haven't found any situations on Volnation that expose me to danger lol

No, but lots of situations that expose you to possibilities (the first synonym provided, which you claimed was way down the list). lol goalposts shifted.

The word risk is often used interchangably with possibility.

I didn't know you would be so triggered by using the word risk to denote possibility.

I am sorry that my senseless use of the word risk troubled you so much that you had to do the VN equivalent of subtweet me about it twice and then argue over what the word itself can mean.

Random, btw, but it can also mean to take a chance! Or even refer to a boardgame. Be careful out there, man. You wouldn't want to take the chance of entering another situation where the possibility of the word r*** being "misused" can trouble you so badly again!

Let's just say you are a Florida player. You have been told all off-season how awesome your team is gonna be this year, and you are a dark horse for the playoffs. After all the talk, you get absolutely embarrassed on national tv first game of the year. At this point, every one is talking smack about how bad you suck. Now you are just pissed off at everyone, and want to destroy the next team you play. Now you get another week of the media destroying you, and an extra week of prep for the upcoming team. I'm telling you, some of those UF players might literally be on fire when they run onto the field.

Dear God we shouldn't even play the game!!!! 🙄

I think our game in Gainesville will be fine. Hurricane supposed to be in Florida Sat+Sun then Georgia/Carolinas late Sunday-Monday.

The worst will be South Florida and that all depends on damage done in Gainesville obviously. But Id guess they still have the game there.

Very true. Not trying to discount that, just wondering if the dog whisperer would have a little more for us because of it.

Every time Donkey whispers to me, he tells me to lie down and not judge him for getting naked. I always tell him, I've seen the shark pics and that's not happening.

Seriously, though, I'm not saying Florida will ever figure it out on offense. But, I would still prefer to play them when the game is scheduled. I hate to say it, but where are they going to practice with the hurricane coming? Won't they cancel classes and possibly evacuate Gainesville if this is as bad as the experts fear? If not, they have 9 days to get ready for us and they looked like slaw on offense, imo against Michigan. I think this year, the Florida game will be played when it benefits UT the most, so hopefully it will be played as scheduled and the state of Florida will not get hit by Irma at all. Not just because of football, but for the safety of all of Florida's citizens, too.

Agree we played at LSU right after Katrina

It's not that simple tho, the storm is giant, bigger, stronger and faster than Andrew and Andrew was terrible for south Florida. Gainesville will have bad weather until Monday night/Tuesday. Power will likely still be out come Saturday. But you're correct on the last part, depends on the damage. BYU vs Lsu got moved and it hit nearly a week prior to the game

Yeah I mean no one knows for sure. It will weaken before there and still be a big storm. I'd lean towards playing there based on time frame of it moving in and out.

Is their really that much difference between the triple-option and the double-option tho? I mean obviously we were still accounting for an extra option but that doesn't seem quite enough. BTW, double-option is what that poster said so I'm going by that.

It isn't the option part that is difficult. Most of their yards came on the counter option and the counter QB sweep, which isn't something they run all that often. However, I honestly don't believe scheme was the problem. We were dominant the first few drives, but when the defense got gassed, the weren't able to beat those blocks as effectively. I think most of the defensive issues revolved around the slow offensive start. If we score on those first few drives, it's a different ball game.

I'm not sure I 100% agree with the narrative that we couldn't prepare for what GT did since they ran very little triple option.

GT doesn't just line up and run the triple option 50 times a game. They've always run a lot of other plays as well. Ask any GT fan if the plays they were running were anything new, and I doubt you'll get an answer in the affirmative.

I think it's more likely that we prepared for the wrong QB and got burned by that than that GT just ran a bunch of plays we weren't prepared for.
