UT could absolutely choose to let this ride a few more weeks. Any hopes of a good season are gone. If the kids want to play for a bottom-tier bowl, they can try for that, but the season is a failure in terms of meeting expectations or team goals. Continuing to trot CBJ out until Currie is ready to make it official would be a very UT thing to do.

Currie is working on Butch’s 2018 extension. Graduation rate and APR is really high. Plus, it’s just a sport. They’re all winners.

These kind of games are not an anomaly. This is a trend. He is not getting it done in any capacity.

The caretaker is not taking care of us.

Bring me someone new.

During that mini-Butch Jones Show they do on the Vol Network postgame, Butch didn't say anything about getting ready for Southern Miss, or what they're going to work on in the coming days. They usually discuss that as the last part of the segment. Bob simply mentioned the game time next week.

"The University of Tennessee is thinking about holding a meeting where they might discuss the potential of putting pressure on Coach Butch Jones." - ESPN probably

If they fire him tomorrow, they'll have to call an emergency meeting of the BOT. They should do that... but they usually don't.

Does the AD not have the authority to
make this call unilaterally? Why would the BOT have to convene?
