If Currie isn't going to fire him, please for the love of God just come out and say so so that we can all move on to other endeavors.

My parents are both Mississippi State alumni, I could watch them the rest of the year and pretend that I'm a huge fan, instead of watching a school that openly supports this sh!t show.

I always thought the Knoxville media was fairly rough on jones at times. But if you listen to Mac’s presser after the game Florida was rough on him. Even asked him if he even wanted to be the coach at Florida.

I wish our media would have the nerve to ask him the tough questions, without butch just walking out. I hope he doesn’t have another presser but if he does I hope they ask him the tough questions.

I think many like and respect the man

No response to an obvious responsibility as caretaker of a once proud program - is a response. The build up in anxiety is leading to program apathy.

We've got some talent that can win with proper coaching on this roster. Butch upgraded it. But it will be gone in a year or two and we will be back to where we were post-Dools if they don't terminate him now and have/exhibit some backbone. After that, make sure the hire is top level. If those two things cannot be done, the program as we once knew it is toast.

💯

Yep. For example, I’d love to retain Cade Mays commitment. But I have zero confidence about what it means for the future of our program if we did. He might get injured, get arrested or otherwise not get coached up or develop. Or he may be an All-American on a 8-5 taxslayer bowl team. No clue. I slowed down on following recruiting this summer and I haven’t checked a thread since.

Not even sure a top 10 class makes a difference.

After years of watching what makes the most difference in my mind is who our head coach is. Can he handle the player egos? Media pressure? Grind of an SEC schedule? Facing Bama Florida and UGA in his first 4 conference games almost every single year?

A mid major coach at a directional school probably can’t.

If he is not fired today or first thing MONDAY morning then Currie moves to the bad freaking hire list. I hope all boosters pull out and the AD goes back to no reserves.

I don't think Currie is making decisions here. I think he's involved but is being more or less told what to do. JMO

This is a much-needed wake-up call for a lot of fans of the program. All this talk about being "on the verge" of being a dead program, of becoming Nebraska...look around you. It's already happened.

The people around this program who have influence simply do not care at the level a lot of the fans care. Everyone hopes with every changing of the guard in the AD, with every new football coach, that *this* is the moment we finally turn the corner, that *now* we're ready to get serious.

Get real. Jon Gruden is not walking through that door. Neither is Chip Kelly. Scott Frost will have better options. The 1990s were decades ago. Whatever Tennessee used to be, it's not any more and will not be for a long, long time, if ever.

Adjust your fall Saturday plans accordingly.

Thanks, Rainbow Brite

While some of this is true...all it takes is one hire. That could be a Homerun or just get lucky with an up and comer. Ask Penn State.

Meanwhile Scott Frost is probably up and about, trying to figure out why the offense failed yesterday during the single moment they punted.

Hopefully he's more concerned about giving up 26 first half points to an OVC school. Extremely concerning result IMO.
