This is a much-needed wake-up call for a lot of fans of the program. All this talk about being "on the verge" of being a dead program, of becoming Nebraska...look around you. It's already happened.

The people around this program who have influence simply do not care at the level a lot of the fans care. Everyone hopes with ever changing of the guard in the AD, with every new football coach, that *this* is the moment we finally turn the corner, that *now* we're ready to get serious.

Get real. Jon Gruden is not walking through that door. Neither is Chip Kelly. Scott Frost will have better options. The 1990s were decades ago. Whatever Tennessee used to be, it's not any more and will not be for a long, long time, if ever.

Adjust your fall Saturday plans accordingly.

5 years ago when people said this it made me mad and I disagreed strongly. This is where I am now though, depending on how this hire goes.

Per Jimmy:

2 reasons he thinks they will let Butch finish year

1. Phillip has advised that firing him in the middle of the year doesn’t sit well with potential coaches

2 Currie could feel that letting Butch go before season end could allow kids to stop going to class etc and in his words nobody watching over them.

Side note. He hasn’t got confirmation directly from Cade Or David but he has been told Cade committed to Clemson.

I don't think Currie is making decisions here. I think he's involved but is being more or less told what to do. JMO

Then we need to leave this program support wise. Never thought I would say this but I am about to just walk away forever. Support Tech but stay home except one weekend per year to watch Tech play and never go back to Neyland after this year.

I know it's easy to be pessimistic but they are going to fire him this weekend.

They are not going to go into Homecoming Week will all the former players on campus with Butch as coach. Attendance will be terrible and they do not want the whole week to be former players asking the administration why Butch still has a job. They have to remove the cloud or we will lose to a good Southern Miss team.

Also, Gruden is going to be on campus. And if the rumors of us still courting him are true, it'll be a lot easier to do it with an actual opening.

Ahhh, a voice of reason and logic. Thank you.

What a complete train wreck. We hired the wrong person. And before you ask who I mean, the answer is yes.

Clemson has built a fence around East Tennessee.

We're 22-46 in the SEC the last 10 years. More than 15% of the program's total losses in its entire history have occurred in the same stretch. Our administration is afraid to fire an obviously failed coach because they're worried it might scare off a new hire.

This is a program that is on a level with South Carolina now. Well, not RIGHT NOW, we can only dream of such sustained success, but overall.

That is probably what it will take. And many more like you.

Not firing Butch because we’re scared kids won’t go to class. 😂😂😂 no way that’s true.

Yeah, if that's the case, all of the Gruden stuff is complete BS. Which it probably is anyway, but is the only fun thing about UT football right now.

Remember when Florida decided not to fire Zook until the end of the season even after a humiliating loss to Mississippi State because they were worried the players might not go to class or that it might make Florida look bad to potential coaches?

Wait, what's that? Oh, it was the exact opposite? Huh.

The AD has pretty much got all the revenue from ticket sells at this point right? Not showing up to the games will only hurt concession sales. Is that enough to force Currie’s hand finance wise?

For me, boycott starts Saturday. Not me, nor my family, will watch or attend any UT sporting event, will not purchase merchandise, will not donate to the university, nor will we don UT gear until Butch is fired. If we hire a terrible coach, the boycott will resume until we hire a new one or that one proves not to be terrible.

It isn't much, but I can't think of any other way to influence this.
