This is a much-needed wake-up call for a lot of fans of the program. All this talk about being "on the verge" of being a dead program, of becoming Nebraska...look around you. It's already happened.
The people around this program who have influence simply do not care at the level a lot of the fans care. Everyone hopes with ever changing of the guard in the AD, with every new football coach, that *this* is the moment we finally turn the corner, that *now* we're ready to get serious.
Get real. Jon Gruden is not walking through that door. Neither is Chip Kelly. Scott Frost will have better options. The 1990s were decades ago. Whatever Tennessee used to be, it's not any more and will not be for a long, long time, if ever.
Adjust your fall Saturday plans accordingly.
5 years ago when people said this it made me mad and I disagreed strongly. This is where I am now though, depending on how this hire goes.
