I've read on the Notre Dame home page that Jimmy Clausen isn't even considering the Vols. Is that true, and what are the chances that TN will get either Mustain or Clausen now that Cutcliffe is the new OC? Does Clausen have a high enough SAT to get into TN or does that really matter to Fulmer and the Vol fans? Maybe Cutcliffe will install some needed discipline and actually make them attend class, instead of probation classes.
About half of the HS "can't miss" QBs never pan-out at the college level, and every team needfs to recruit a blue-chip QB almost every year just to have 1-2 that can actually start and win games on Saturday. Any comments?
Just a thought from a Fighting Irish fan living in TN.

Well, kinda old news. Most of us here have already wrote of getting Jimmy.

A ton of talk lately about Mustain since Cut came back.

Ah, who knows. I think we really need to get some OL.

Is it true that the Clausen family is pissed at Fulmer and will discourage Jimmy from signing a LOI with the Vols? I thought they liked TN and Knoxville, and had actually rented a condo during the FB season so they could fly in and attend the home games. The ND board said JC had ND and SoCarolina as his top two prospects. Cutcliffe better get on the ball or Spurrier SC and Richt at GA will get the blue-chip QBs. Somehow, I just can't believe the Clausen family would black-list TN and encourage their son to go elsewhere. Maybe I'm wrong. It was my impression that the Clausen family was so upset with ND turning down Casey that only the Pope himself could get Jimmy Clausen to attent ND. Of course, I don't know everything the Pope does.

Not sure to be honest. I know there was alot of talk about the Clausen family.

It would be good to get him. Rick has accepted a position as a grad assistant, so that could be good.

If Cutcliffe gets Mustain as QB, Clausen is a gonner and will probably go to SC and Spurrier. Some of these kids have big egos for a HS player, and aren't used to the competition. Cutcliffe must get either Mustain or Clausen, but won't get both. Mustain would cripple Ark and boost the Vols recruiting efforts. Whatever happens, Cutcliffe only has 45 days to act.

I don't think that he's going to get either to be honest. Especially Clausen. JC has been out of the picture for us for quite some time...

No way we get Jimmy.

Mustain is certainly a possibility, however

But I'd rather Cut work with Ainge and Crompton for now.

BREAK THE CURSE. WE DON'T NEED JIMMY. RUN THE DANG BALL!!!

All we need is a QB that won't make stupid mistakes and has the skill to hand to ball off to foster and hit our WR on play action posts...thats all i ask....

We need somebody who can throw the dadgum ball like Peyton, so defenses have no clue as to whether we are running or passing on ANY given play!

If you can find him and dress him in Orange, I'll be there on Saturdays to cheer him on. Problem is, Peyton's don't come along every day.

Blue chip QBs are always nice to add, but with 2 in Knoxville right now I don't really think that is top priority. I agree with Milo--work on getting the most out of the two we have, and if any more prodigies come our way, it's just gravy.
