Why do so many big time schools waste time recruiting kids with zero hope of enrollment? They have to have access to transcripts...right??If you know a kid has to go juco, is it wasted time spending so much time and energy on a kid who can't score a ten on an ACT?

A couple of reasons. One, there is always hope that they can get their academics in order. If a school is almost full and not chasing many more players, then you have the time. Second, you recruit for the future. It didn't work out with DJ Jones, but we were only in it because our staff was the only one to keep recruiting him and place him in Juco when others dropped him. Players remember that. It can help if they are big time players.

As VolGee touched on, you help place him in a JUCO home in an environment favorable to resign him in a couple years...Secondly,the standards for enrollment are embarassingly low in my opinion. Right now, even seniors have two semesters to turn it around enough to make the academic cut. Giving up on a guy this early could prove costly.

I was told by someone close to college football that all big conferences except ACC can accept one non-qualifier to their football program. In other words, it does not matter what their scores or grades are if they graduate.

I am sure this will be looked into and BS will be called if I am wrong. I truly do not know but that was the word I heard.

Interesting if true. I would like to know the answer to that as well. I've never heard of that but Ima do some digging.
