Im just wondering, with all you intrested sports fans, that if any of you ahve any recruiting tips for a friend of mine. He's going to be a soph. in HS and is trying very hard to get a bball scholly. I know its tough, but the kid is very good, may very well start as a soph for varsity and will play with one of, if not the best players in the state of oklahoma. I know most of you will think, or say, that if hes good enough things will take care of themselves, but I dont htink thats the case. He goes to a very small school, and although they are very good, recruiters arnt exactly jumping to go there. Anyone with any experience or knowledge on how to get coaches or scouts to notice you would be appreciated. I cant wait for basketball season to see how he does, hes in a great situation. But anyone with any kind of tips, tricks, or tools to get a scholarship would be great. Thanks in advance.

I would think a highlight tape sent to schools that he is interested in would be one approach. Football players use that method. Have no idea about the timing of sending them out.

a Highlight tape is the first step.
Talking to his coach who if he has any salt has contacts.
Having a high profile player there also will help
Get on a Summer team -- AAU, Nike or Addias
Attend summer camps, especially the big one like ABCD camp
You could look on the net for Regional camps that coaches attend he could go to.

In the big camps, dont you have to be invited?

I know hes playing AAU next year, and hes teammate plays for the best AAU team in the State, hopefully he can get a tryout for that team.

But for big camps like ABCD, dont you have to be invited. (if not, what are some other "big camps" (sorry, not familiar with the HS Bball circut)

Ok I had the same problem at my highschool cause I was basically the stud of my team but Our school was really small so it was hard to get looked at. What you need to tell your freind to make a highlight tape and then there are basketball sites were colleges coaches will watch your tape and send scouts to your game. Milo knows the sites i am talking about and you can ask him.

No prob. I know that feeling of thinking you will never get looked at.
